The hot toy usually sucks every year.
The nintendo last year was cool, but we went through heck to get Hatchimals and they didn't get used.

Can't go wrong with a car, truck or anything remote controlled.
They have FPV remote controlled cars for $50 now.

Or get him a nerf r8val blaster.

Daughter bought a 2K gocart for him last year.

Legos are on the list. He has been playing with those land mines for a few years now.

He gave his Maw Maw a guilt trip a couple days ago telling her that all we gave him last year was socks.

The best thing for a kid that age is an experience like a trip to the zoo, ball game, weekend vacation in a new city. Let’s face it, he’s 7 and probably has a shite ton of toys.
