Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch

Our hearts are heavy today. Our ranch has suffered great loss. As some of you may have heard, one of our ranch vehicles was involved a multiple car accident this afternoon. Please send prayers our way as we navigate this difficult time. We will update information as we are able, and if you have any questions feel free to contact us. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and respecting the privacy of our large and extended families.

BUTLER COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - An organization that says it’s mission is to offer a home to “Alabama’s needy, neglected, or abused, school-age children” released a statement on social media late Saturday night saying “our ranch has suffered great loss,” confirming one of its vehicles was involved in a multi-vehicle crash earlier in the day

WSFA

Just terrible. Prayers for everyone involved.

I saw a post earlier (I think on Facebook) saying there was a van full of kids in the wreck and only one kid survived. I have no idea if that’s this van or if what that person said is true. But damn.

When I saw the rumored number of fatalities this afternoon I wondered if there was some sort of church/organization van involved. Prayers to these people, this is awful.

That stretch of highway is insane. High volume and lots of trucks all the time. People drive fast as shite through there as well.

65 is exactly the same here in Indiana. Last Friday I was stuck for 2 hours when an SUV crossed the median (got clipped by a Miata to set it off) and wrecked a loaded Greyhound.

And in the winter, 65 here turns into a g.d. skating rink, even when other roads are perfectly driveable. I figure it was built with alien technology. Malevolent aliens.

That's just not fair. These ranches do so much to help less fortunate, then something like this happens.

Is it just me or have drivers on interstates become more and more aggressive? Constant tailgating, weaving in and out of lanes, and going 85+.

One thing that causes a lot of this shite is people driving incorrectly. Way too many people cruise in the left lane (oblivious to traffic around them) instead of just using it to pass. People dicking around in the left lane causes traffic to become more congested and faster traffic to weave between lanes to pass slower drivers, increasing the likelihood of an accident.

Cruise in the right lane, pass in the left lane. If you're in the left lane and notice someone coming up at a faster speed, get the frick out of the way. It doesn't matter if you're driving the speed limit and they're going 120. You concede the left lane to faster drivers. It's the job of the police to handle people exceeding the speed limit.

It's being said there was a hydroplaning that led to the accident.
I blame the narrow bridge.
This is a random , somebody wasn't paying attention thing.
Unless excessive speed was involved that created the hydroplaning situation.

Instead of the war on drugs this country needs to have a war on tailgaters and speeders. These crowded interstates are death traps now and littered with drivers who have no regard for human life.It exhausts me for the rest of the day after being on one just a couple of hours

Drivers Ed has to be a joke these days. I wouldn't be surprised if most of it was done online, without an actual instructor.
People don't understand road signs, hydroplaning, what the left lane is for, etc.

Yeah, that is bull shite. I know a couple people who have wrecked - one died from using cruise control on a wet road.

They may have died from a wet road, but it wasn't because they were using cruise control. That is, unless the causal condition was their feet being on the dash while they were eating a hotdog. Which, coincidentally is why the myth is perpetuated indirectly. Drivers are less attentive and responsive when using it, which is a bad combination with wet roads; and is the generic reasoning behind driver education suggesting it not be used.

The I-20 / I-59 option is supposedly ~20 minutes slower. Is it safer?

I was once in an accident that shut down I-20 between Atlanta and Birmingham. Not that bad though.

during the summer vacation series is worse than the Talladega 500, especially on weekends when most people are coming from or going to the beach. The problem is you have those who want go 90 MPH mixed in with those who want to go 70 or less. And on top of that you’ve got a shite ton of big trucks that at best might do 70 downhill trying to pass a truck that is doing 68 and a half and taking 5 miles to do it.

I'm not looking forward to american roads. Mfers just cannot drive

People drive like complete a-holes going to and from the beach.

People like try and past 6 cars at 75 mph instead of getting over to the right lane to make way for the faster approaching car... And when every car is doing this that's how you get left lane riders and pissed off drivers.
