Jesus Christ! I’m terrified of this happening to my kid. Prayers to that kid and their parents tonight! Hope they pull through.

My friend lives in that neighborhood. Said that little boy and her little boy play together most days. She said he was on a dirt bike and shot down the driveway into the street. A tahoe (who was not speeding) hit him. Critical but stable condition last she posted.

Damn. How old was the little boy? A dirt bike isn't something anyone under 15 or 16 should be riding, even if it's just in the driveway. That's just my opinion though.

kids down our street do this all the time often while the parents watch and it scares the shite out of me. especially since the folks who live towards the end of the dead end street will go 30-40 mph while on their phone.

It may have been one of those electric ones. Kids ride those all over my mom's neighborhood and they are unpredictable as frick.
Something about actually pedaling makes most kids more focused on where the hell they're going.

Golf carts and 4 wheelers are allowed in my subdivision and a couple of the boys drive 4 wheelers like bats out of hell to impress the girls. Hoping there is never a thread like this for us but I feel like it's going to happen eventually unfortunately.

Electric dirt bike? Maybe I need more coffee but I'm not picturing what you're talking about.

Law enforcement doesn't allow them on any public road, though. If the HOA allows them on the subdivision roads and someone gets hit by a car on one of them, the HOA and all its officers could be in legal trouble.

It's about the same thing as one of those razor electric scooters, except in a dirt bike model. My little boy is 7 and has had one for over a year. This scares the hell out of me. I always preach to him about looking both ways before he drives out into the street with with his bike, skateboard, razor, etc. I'm always cautious when I drive down the the neighborhood street too especially if I see kids up ahead, just in case one of them chases a ball or something in the street without paying attention.

So it was a hit and run? I guess it's a good sign that the kid was crying. What a horrible situation.
