I think Trump's campaign will pick up the flight costs...especially with what's going on in Congress right now. Frankly every candidate should be climbing over the other to cover it.

I agree with all of this. All of the taxpayer they have wasted on complete bs up there, they can spend some of it to get our citizens home.

Big shout out to Randy's Tiger Droppings friends for rallying around him and giving him strength in an otherwise scary and hopeless situation.

We got a shout out.

Go fund me needs to be updated on why the funds are needed, imo (tickets, loss of income, etc)

Why would you care about other folks trying to help a guy get his family home even if it's $10. Your comment makes it seem like because he has a savings account no one should help the guy out. He isn't asking to help fund Brayden's travel ball team.

Because I asked what a 40 page thread about a go fund me was for? I was curious because I had assumed he budgeted to get himself home before the virus broke out. If you don't like my question then don't respond to it, it's really simple.

Read through it. The GoFundMe only came in within the past 12 hours after many of us asked to help, some suggested TD set one up for him.

ETA: The thread title "Update" has changed as circumstances have changed. If you followed this from the start in real time I don't think you'd be questioning it.

I'm glad Honkus and his family were able to get on a plane, but there were a lot of reports of this virus/flu before they left for China. Especially in the Wuhan area.

If people want to donate, that's great. But don't believe a gofundme should be posted or advertised on here.

I am prepared for the downvotes.

I believe they used that money to book flights out that were then canceled by the airline with no refund.

His wife and kids have been there for more than 30 days and he left about 2 weeks ago. There were not many reports until about 10 days ago.

Yes...as long as the citizen signed a promissory note for $1100 per ticket to be paid back within 30 days.

Got it. So explain the gofundme? Are they not able to pay for their tickets back to the US? What is the money actually going to be used for?

Honkus posted multiple times that he was not looking for a gofundme. His sister ended up creating one because so many posters were asking how they could help with his flights back/food & drink while quarantined/ loss of work/toys for kids/etc

The GoFundME says he got there on the 20th...

Maybe its just me, but I think the GoFundMe will be more successful if it reads better. Right now it doesn't really sound like the kids were there for an extended period of time before he traveled there:

quote:

He, his wife Ping, and their two young children traveled to Yichang, in Hubei province (200 miles west of Wuhan) to celebrate the Lunar New Year with Ping's family. Randy arrived in Yichang Jan. 20 and was set to leave this coming Friday, Jan 31st.

Also, I would include more details about what the money is for, stuff that he unexpectedly ran into beyond what a normal roundtrip would cost. He should be able to get reimbursed for a cancelled flight.

Prepare thy anus for the million downvotes

I agree. Especially for those who haven't read every single page of this thread. It clearly states they arrived on the 20th and does not really say why a gofundme/donations are necessary.
