Chinese "Patriots" kicked the shite out of protesters (including some elderly and children) in the airport over the weekend. China accused the U.S. and UK of backing these protests. Some token arrests were made. Protesters are back at it. We'll see what the response of the Chinese is soon enough.

isn't hong kong the place where people have to rent "coffin" apartments for hundreds a month....yea..can't imagine why there would be any kind of revolt there

HK has maintained a degree of independence from China. The Chinese gov’t has been slowly eroding that independence.
Recently they announced HK prisoners could be transferred to Chinese prisons. Many Chinese prisons are detention camps for political prisoners. People still disappear in the middle of the night in China.
