Homework is out of control

Kids should not have to spend all evening doing homework after spending all day at school. What are these teachers doing in class all day? Probably texting. Parents shouldn't have to be teachers for them. Guess they get spoiled with their "free" summers.

Trying to prepare the kids to pass the endless standardized tests the politicians have mandated.

Learn during the day at school, practice what you learn at night. It's not a difficult concept.

Finland has the best education system in the world & they don't issue homework until the kids are in HS.

Finland is different in that they set the kids up on a particular path when they're young. It's stupid for little johnny to be doing hours upon hours of math HW every night when we really know he's just gonna be assistant manager at Tire Kingdom..

GFY, I had four problems for a homework due today. Each one took between an hour and an hour and a half

I graduated high school in 89. Always went to good schools, took honors courses and the like. And I always had a metric frick ton of homework.
All those countries where the kids do better in school? Their kids as a whole do more homework than most of ours do.

I hope you aren't helping your kid with English.

Actually, parents should be their children's primary teacher. If a parent is worth half a shite, then the teacher does less than half of the teaching. Ever wonder why inner city schools fricking blow? Couldn't have anything to do with them having shitty parents and thus teachers like yourself.
