That includes insurance and taxes. So let me get this straight.
You want to make 170k. Be able to buy a 3000 sq ft house, in great school districts, close to a major metro area, be able to max out retirement, and not be house poor. What the frick are you smoking? Because I want some of that.

Life ain’t fair either.
I never said it was. Again, it seems like you are providing rebuttals to things that I’m not saying.

Who said this?
But I would contend that empirically high earners should be able to do better than an empirically median life.

Principal on 400k is 2550. Not sure where you are coming up with 6000 for homeowners. My house is valued at 1.2 million replacement cost and I pay 4300. My property taxes are 8700.
Again you are making shite up.

Take any "relatively" nuanced positions on this board about this topic and it gets overly generalized

170 is the median salary for two college grads ten years into their career. Median means the middle. Of course there are people that do better. And worse. Your little socialist everything should be equal and fair mind can’t see past that fact.

Lane Kiffin has lost control of BR home prices.

Oh a good chunk of people pay ridiculous amounts of insurance along the Gulf coast. I dont ive see it that high, but homeowners + flood yeah 6K is about that for an average size home.

Why are we talking about first time homebuyers buying coastal property with flood/wind insurance?

You dont have to live in a beach house to still have a discussion about flood/wind insurance, particularly in south Louisiana

I’m not insulting you for doing it, but you acted as though the other poster was lying when he said you live off of taxpayers. You unequivocally do if you’re living off of a military retirement pension.
