I personally don't care that it cost more. I think they should die for their crimes. At least that way the family will get the closure that comes with seeing their loved ones murderer breathe his last breath.

Appointed lawyers? Capital Defense project pays them? Most of these costs have been budgeted for. If it truly costs extra, so what? This is one of the few areas the government has business being involved with. I don't mind my tax dollars going towards it.

I'm not arguing for or against the death penalty and it's really not appropriate in this thread.
I despise the word "closure". It doesn't exist. There may be stages people move through but there's no closure especially in unnatural deaths. The guy could die in 6 months or 6 years, but this poor family will never have closure. I pray they are able to live with it and still enjoy their families and their lives in spite of it.

I think "closure" is used to mean the perp(s) caught and brought to justice.
In the case of Shelby Holmes, his killer(s) have never been found. So there is no "closure."
I ran into Shelby's mom the other day and she's still second guessing her decision to take him off of life support. He was shot in the head at close range. No way he would have been the person he was up until October 21, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. and his whole life prior.

This. Think Pitbull. (The rapper, not the child killer)

There are blonde/blue and ginger Cubans. They are a pretty diverse group.

I AGREE.
And it should not have to cost more- if we would reform the process. The appeals process is broken. We live in a time when DNA evidence proves guilt or innocence beyond the shadow of a doubt. I can't think of a good reason why someone like DTL is still breathing at Angola. "He did it."
I don't believe anyone has the right to tell a family how they should feel, either. That's bullshite.

Cubans are usually either from Spanish or African origin.
Lots of Spaniards have fair complexions.

I think about him everytime I'm in the area either exiting or entering 110. It's so tragic and frustrating b/c whoever did that knew it would be nearly impossible to get caught. Evil motherfrickers.

Definitely less errors these days in cases with DNA. Not all cases have DNA, but most do these days.

Well, there are several ways to look at that, but without getting into that discussion, I would think most prosecutors talk with families before going for the death penalty, particularly where there is a deal to be made. Trials can be extremely difficult for some families. Some don't want to relive the murders. Some do.

Cops are at the barn where he lived. Supposedly killed and buried someone else there

Is this on Highland or Tigerland?

I doubt that. He would had to driven from Hammond, back to the property, then to Florida. That would have been very risky, although this guy hasn't proven to be very smart.

The barn is by Tiger land

That's why it came to mind. The guy took risks anyway. He dropped the truck off at a busy truck stop and how he missed thinking there might be cameras there is beyond me.

Eh. You live. You die. We are all on the same train to nowhere. Money or not. Tragic situation but we all have to die someway and at sometime. No one human life is better than the next.
