Home generator recommendation, prairieville area

We are in process of building a home and wanted to get some recs on who to use for installation of home generator. Our contractor recommended one guy, but hasn’t returned a phone call despite multiple attempts. Anyone have any recommendations?

Your electrician should be able to pre-wire everything including the transfer switch. Your plumber can put in the gas line.
After the home is complete you can then have the generator company come in and drop the generator and wire it to the pre-wired box.

Solar Panels and a Tesla battery
Why buy a generator that sits dormant when your alternative generation capacity can pay for itself via lower primary electric bills?
Most solar cells can generate enough to run a limited house on cloudy days

Go ahead and buy a generac. They come with the switch box. Your electrician should be able to easily wire it in. It shouldn’t take him 15-20 minutes tops.
I put in a 22kw generac 2 years ago. I paid an electrician on the side. Granted this was 10 years after we built and it took him a little longer since it required a bit of redoing but still was less than 2 hours.

Just make sure you buy a liquid cooled generator in the south.
A lot of folks found out within 3 days after Laura an air cooled just won't cut it after they melted down.

I'm curious about this too. Stayed with my inlaws during Ida and their home struggled on a 20kw air cooled. I want one for my house and would prefer a liquid cooled. 75% of the people I've called say a 24 kw air-cooled is all I need. I just have my doubts. My dad just put in a 38kw Generac. It's liquid cooled and I like it, although I'm considering the Kohler 38 kw liquid cooled. I'm just a little concerned about the number of salesmen who have told me that all I "need" is a 24kw. I have a nearly 4k sq. ft. house and I do not want to run around turning off lights and such if I need to use the machine. So y'all's thoughts on a recommended installer and thoughts on the liquid cooled Generac v. Kohler are appreciated.

Rescom Electric
I can confirm Rescom is great. You can find cheaper but can also find more expensive than they are BUT they show up. Definitely recommend. I’ll pay anyone who shows up for appointments.

Electric Generators Direct
I have had 2 installed at two house and purchased both from here.
First, find a electrician and a plumber who can wire the box and plumb the gas.
If using natural gas, make sure gas meter is large enough for generator. Gas company will replace meter for free if it needs upgrading. If propane, you have to clear a space for a large tank as well.
Second, build a stand or put a pad down.
Third, have a few buddies available to lift and place generator onto stand or pad.

I haven't looked into it but my instinct says that the out of pocket cost, and the time to recoup this money makes it not a very attractive option.
I love the concept though.

I live in a neighborhood that has roughly 25-35 whole home generators. Everyone has a Generac, and only one person didn't have issues after 14 days of constant running including those who changed oil regularly as well as shut it off for hours at a time to help with "cool down" . Multiple people had issues with CO build up, including both neighbors. Every single person had air cooled. Neighbor went as far as to build a generator "shed" with a 48 inch fan blow on it, and still had issues.
That being said, you have no need for a 38 KW. I ran a 5000 watt generator to my entire home, and only couldn't run my washing maching, dryer, and AC, but did have a window unit running. All of the lights, fans, fridge, freezer, TVs, router, modem, and box fans ran fine.

Cummings or a Kholer. I have a Cummings 30kw Liquid cooled. Whatever you do, don’t get a generac.

I second Gage.
Did a nice job on my Cummins 30 kw install and service.
