You can buy tools for 25% the cost elsewhere and most of what I buy there if it lasts longer than the one project I need it for that's just s bonus. It's cheaper to buy their stuff than to rent it elsewhere.
that's pretty much what you're doing, renting something, because you'll be replacing soon

And unfortunately some incredibly low quality also. Will get what you pay for at this place.
This and speaking from experience.

The 79 cent wire brush for your grill can't be beat.

Most of you are full of it, yeah their stuff is not top of the line but you don't go there for commercial quality.
Hey, all we are saying is that if you are hunting for some power tools, spend the extra money on stuff that will last. I go there for tarps, rope, and small-end items. I won't be going there for pneumatic tools or wood shop items though.

Their toolboxes are as good as anything out there short of paying the price of a used car for something from a tool truck. Do some you tube searches, some of the hand tools are surprisingly good like their pro sockets

They say you shouldn't skimp on your bed, your feet, or tools. If it's something you rarely ever use you might go cheap.
But if it's a tool you're going to use every day or depend on for your job then buy something that is going to last.

I'd venture to say that nobody using tools every day buys them from harbor freight. But weekend warriors would be wasting their money buying a top of the line snap on tool set or even craftsman if it's something they'll use a few times a year.

Cheap, shitty tools.
Yes and no.
A lot of it is pure garbage, but their ratchet box wrenches are very well built. Their torque wrenches are the best ones you can buy until you're up to $160 bucks or so. And their oxide impact sockets are awesome.
Also their weighted rubber mallets.
Occasionally they have stainless machetes qith crappy handles, pop the plastic handles off and pin a wooden one in, and you have an awesome weighted and serrated machete.

You can tell how many Baws are on here by the level of outrage they have over Harbor Freight.

I bought one for $90, did the project, and now I have a roofing nail gun.
Same here. I bought a compressor, nail gun, circular saw and multi-tool to repair a few problem areas on my roof at the fascia and soffits. It took me multiple weekends and sweated my arse off, but for less than $200 I made my repairs and the tools still work.

Tool snobs are terrible as are most snobs.
Harbor freight has some huge value in their pro line of hand tools. a DIY guy who spends 30 minutes a year on the back end of a wrench would never notice a difference between a snap on 11/16 and harbor freight 11/16.

quote:Who the frick are you trying to rent from? Maybe $15-20, but there is no way it costs $150-200 to rent a nail gun. You are lying.
To rent one would have cost $150-$200
I have broken every single power tool I've owned from there, exploded two sockets, snapped screwdrivers. The only thing I have from there that's worth a shite is a torque wrench

It also sells incredibly low quality stuff. If you are buying a hammer it's probably fine. Otherwise you are buying stuff that will probably quickly break.
