I’ve vowed never to live where an HOA exists.

I live in the land of gated communities. Found a beautiful home, no gates, no HOA. Love it. But, I don’t live around trashy people.

Anybody, I mean anybody, who subjects themselves to the whims of a fricking tribal council made up of their dipshit neighbors is an absolute sucker.

Friends dad built this after a neighbor complained to the HOA that his trash bins were visible from the street.

I've also seen HOA Boards get drunk with power and put in just obnoxious shite.

I call these kinds “HOA nazis” because, like the Gestapo they are forever watching for the slightest infractions, so they can show off their power. We have some of these. Threatened an older lady with a lien on her house because she needed a little extra time to pay annual dues - she is a longer termed in our subdivision that most on the board, and always pays her dues. She had knee replacement surgery prior and was in rehab. The treasurer knew this but wrote and sent the registered threat letter.

Good
Keeps trash out or halfway homes out of the area. Non HOA single family homes is where these places pop up. Who wants to invest in a single family home and live next to a half way house.

They do keep the area up the way the builder intended to keeping the value of your home up.

Bad
Some people go too far and abuse power

Are they dirty no good hippies with sandals, long hair, and hippie clothes.

They better not be driving a VW hippie van.

We cannot have that I thought we made them stay in California!

Y’all should have investigated every patrolling citizen y’all had assigned to duty that night. I’m skeptical about your story, only because there were a number of people in that chain of command you’d have had to investigate aside from the treasurer.

I've got no issues with them being hippies. Just that they block the sidewalk occasionally.

now I have a dog and encourage him to crap in other peoples yards

A guy in my neighborhood walks his two little dogs to let them use the bathroom instead of having them use it in his yard. He kept letting them poop in my front yard without picking up their poop, so one Saturday, as their dogs were crapping in my yard, I opened up my front door and let my two Lab's chase him and his two dogs down the street... they now cross the street when they come to my yard.

Paging TigerRyno

I heard the tigerdroppings HOA evicted him for noncompliance with the insubordination clause.

I love Ryno, but he should know better than to test the limits of our benevolent authority board of administrators.

My current situation involves my neighbor dropping the deck on me a day after my legal resident yard maintenance engineer completes his duties. Neighbor consistently does this after the yard maintenance window has closed. He has developed quite a file of anonymous tips and complaints. Currently under review.

Net, thoughts on neighborhood paint color requirements? We have a couple hippies with weird colors on their houses in our neighborhood. Can we create and retroactively enforce a color scheme requirement?
