I never understood this..... You move into a neighborhood where you have an HOA, your realtor has to legally go over the rules with you, you have to sign off on them if you want to live there. Fast forward 6 months now as the homeowner complain about them after making a decision to live there.

I don't like all of our HOA rules, but I understand they are there to protect the value of my investment. So I play nice and do my best to abide by them, frankly because I respect the people willing to be on the board. That is one of the most under paid and thankless jobs out there.

Sometimes you gotta be an adult

Then I realize why they are there because I have neighbors that need 6 acres to store their junk, not at our neighborhood. I guess just take the good with the bad, and hope you get rational board members

I agree with that, but I've also seen HOA Boards get drunk with power and put in just obnoxious shite.

Yep. It’s irrational to park your boat in the driveway. Or on the street.

It’s a boat. Put it in the damn water.

You don’t care about the HOA until you need the HOA. But the fearless men and women who serve don’t ask for anything in return. Just that you keep it at or under 20 mph, and come to a complete stop. No rolling stops.

Fine then. I'm going to be lighting up the rear tires at every stop sign.

Your move, Blart.

Somebody tried to put up a backyard fence with 8' pickets when 6' is the required height.

Don't buy a 225k home in Livingston Parish and this isn't a problem, HOA or not

Yep that's why they have those nice little storage units, if you can afford the boat, you can afford a place to keep it. Just my 2 cents

You won’t be moving when I slap cuffs on you and seize your vehicle, all your personal property, and do a thorough search of your home.

How are you going to catch me if you're stopping at every stop sign?

The HOA is only good to keep the wankers and naggers in check.

I can’t even begin to describe how much I’ve learned and how many lives I’ve saved just by closely following Net’s and Ryno’s posts in HOA threads over the years. Those 2 deserve lifetime achievement awards from Chicken just for taking time to share their insights with us regular folk

Back in 2009 when we had the big ice storm here in Louisville that shut the city down for two weeks, one HOA in the city made waves by fining residents who didn’t have their sidewalks cleared of ice and snow within 24 hours of the storm. The actual temps the day after the initial storm were in the negative as well.

Another shitty one was the HOA towing cars parked on the street on Christmas Day.

This thing in my buddy from high school’s neighborhood got towed and the owners were slapped with a fine. None of that happened before it was thoroughly searched and the wife was frisked.
