Want to start up a shooting war between HOA members and the HOA board? This is a good way to ignite a fire.

TV Station KXAN Investigation
quote:

Last month, the Crystal Falls HOA in Leander (TX) sent residents a letter announcing it will install a portable camera and radar system to catch speeders. The HOA is considering putting the speed trap on public roads but, for now, is limiting it to private ones. Homeowners in the HOA caught speeding will be warned once and then fined up to $334 for going over the posted speed limits — even if someone else is behind the wheel of their car.

Violators are not given a speeding “ticket” but rather a fine for violating the community’s rules.

“They’re saying it’s not a ‘speeding ticket.’ They’re saying it’s a ‘deed restriction violation,'” said Petrick. “It sounds like a speeding ticket to me.”

Nothing a well placed .22 round couldn’t dismantle.

Then they'll contest them like the traffic light cams and they'll have to prove that Person X was driving which they won't be able to.

Not a terrible idea. The soccer moms in my neighborhood do 45 in a 20 consistently because Jax is late for practice

On the other hand, I’d tell them shove that 300 up their rectum

Good. There's no reason for people to be driving 40mph down a residential street with kids playing video game inside.

I give it about a week to ten days before it becomes "operationally unusable".

well those aren't public. i read the op pretty fast and missed the part about private. How they worded it, it makes it seem they have both which is a bit strange.

Yeah. This would be useful when someone finally hits a kid so you can show how many times they've been caught on camera speeding, but if I get a $300 ticket for driving 32 mph I'm banging the HOA presidents daughter.

I'm torn on this. On the one hand I hate HOA's, but on the other hand I loathe residential speeders. I think I'd have to side with the HOA fascists here
