That is partly why I like driving an older beater. Assholes have no respect for others properties.

Do you have the number of your state representative and/or the insurance commissioner?

This is not a new problem. Now you have a reason to get politically active.

You live in Biden's America. The only people that need insurance, are well, certain people known as taxpayers.

You’re going to get it from both ends. Your insurance company will frick you over the uninsured driver while the truck driver’s insurance is going to frick you because your car hit them even if it wasn’t your fault.

Not true. Just went through this the last several months. Literally just like OP’s story. After 5, getting off onto College, where they have all this construction, so anyone exiting on College has to come to a complete stop on the interstate at this time. Some uninsured retard runs into the person behind me, who hits me, and runs me into the guy in front of me. Only person at fault was the uninsured retard, and he’s responsible for all 3 of our vehicles. I unfortunately had to pay the deductible, and my insurance is currently trying to get that deductible back.

Just got my copy of the police report and found everything I need - her ID was real so I've got her name, address, job, etc.

And yes I have uninsured motorist coverage, and the reason I didn't have gap insurance is because I am going to have this car paid off in the next year. Didn't think I'd have this happen at 1500 miles. It's basically just a grocery getter while I'm home from work. Bought it in June and already have $10k paid on it.

Not if it's not his fault it will not change his premium.

Not entirely true.. if he has an accident free discount on the current policy the company could remove it.. While he's not technically being charged premium dollars for the accident he may lose said discount still affecting the renewal premium.. But it won't double his rates unless not at faults are a common occurrence for the driver then the company could deem said driver high risk..

If no one was hurt, not sure why you would need full UM bodily injury coverage. And, comprehensive coverage will not come in to play in this scenario at all. Not trying to be a dick, but your post was 0-2.
If you wanted to go UM coverage for this, you would need UM PD(property damage), which you would still have a deductible for, but it would take care of the vehicle damage. Or, if the vehicle has collision coverage, it will also take care of the damage, less the deductible.

Again, you can not have uninsured property damage coverage (UMPD) in Louisiana if you have comp and collision. You can have uninsured bodily injury, (UMBI) but that will not cover repairs to your vehicle

They are only disqualified for the first $15k of bodily injury and the first $25k of property damage.

Typically someone uninsured is going to be driving a vehicle that is less than $25k. But if their injuries are more than $15k they can collect.

However, most billboard attorneys won’t take those uninsured cases because they typically take a long time to settle.

I was involved in something like this about 9 years ago.

Four car collision all started by an illegal that was on their phone driving a diesel. Fortunately for me, I was the third vehicle in the chain and my damage on both the front and back was VERY minor. The first person she hit had to be taken to the hospital because they were already injured from a prior accident and were still in a few casts.

The illegal got off scott free and released from the scene pretty quickly when they couldn't provide proof of anything. Kept their vehicle and everything. Had that been me, I would have lost everything that day, then would have been sued to oblivion.

Only in racist America can something like this happen.

That is what uninsured motorist is for. But there are 2 kinds, one only cover the damage to toe other car while the other protects you. Sounds totaled. Good luck!

This is the first answer, but it's not likely.
