Ideee it is. From the markings on it, I’m thinking it’s during the North African campaign. Though it could be from the Louisiana Maneuvers just months before America entered WWII. At that time Patton was the commander of 2nd Armored Division.

Yeah, I was thinking North Africa as well. Have an old Africa Corp Pith helmet on my wall a family member brought back. Said the Germans would make the POW's piss in the radiators to conserve their own water supply. I got the impression the Honey did not last long against the better German guns.

Blank adaptors. Those guys are training, apparently not a combat picture.

USMC Dress Blues, Blue-Whites, and Navy Officer Dress Whites are my favorite three dress uniforms and there’s a big drop off from there.

But no love for these?

nowhere near as good looking as USMC rolled sleeves.

The entire point was to be able to pull Army rolled sleeves down quickly in case of an NBC attack. But jarheads have so few brain cells to kill, they didn't need to worry as much

What year was that from?

Looking at it looks so familiar all the sudden!

(I suspect the reality of such a situation did not match that graphic)

No idea baw. It was sold for 12 cents so it has to be late fifties to early sixties.

Damn, always wondered why we went first that explains it.

For me obviously USMC dress blues, but I've always admired and respected the way the Army conducts themselves at Arlington. Sacred and solemn duty done well.

3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard)

My first assignment as an enlisted Soldier (1981-1984) (not as a Tomb Guard, just assigned to the regiment). My first roommate (and best man for my wedding) was a Tomb Guard.

The reintroduced Army pinks and greens remind me of the scene at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan. Probably my favorite regular uniform. My parents were both Navy, they had so many damned uniforms I never knew what the hell was going on.

I hated the kevlar. You couldn’t shave or wash out of them and they made my head itch.

I remember getting MREs, BDUs, the Kevlar helmets and the gortex boots with the square toed soles (for skis) all around the same time at Bragg. Late 81, early 82 maybe. They had given us back our berets around December of 80 maybe, somewhere around then. No, wait, it was right after Reagan' inauguration in January of 81.

Everything started changing when Ronnie took office.

It was definitely before I deployed to Vicenza the second time, but definitely after my first deployment to Italy so it had to be late 82 probably, right after we jumped in to Gallant Eagle in California because we still had the steel pots on that jump.
