Oklahoma has some moderate terrain for hiking.
Louisiana and Florida are tied IMO. Both super flat and hot.

It is easily one of the worst. It could be a little better if the state developed trails. Instead, they build water parks at campgrounds.

Florida has developed trails, it’s flat and not everyone’s cup of tea but the Florida Trail is a success that gets a lot of hikers. Louisiana could do something similar through the southern part of their state, it’s flat but some interesting areas and biodiversity. As far as I know Louisiana doesn’t have that though.

Plus at least in parts of Kansas and Nebraska, you may only be 4-6 hours away from legitimate hiking in Colorado or Wyoming

Hiked one in Kisatchie, above Leesville, couple weeks ago. Drive 6 hours to Arkansas and have some incredible hikes

Big thanks. We like that area for a 7 hour drive from BR. Did a 10 miler there, but have never put together a backpack. That should be really nice.

Lots of people hiking/running comite right now, visiting the river beaches. The mtn bike club maintains it so that could be the impression that’s it’s only for bikes. As long as you practice some trail etiquette, they’re good. It connects to hooper rd park as well, it has some nice lake and swamp trails.
