That's the thing. No one really knows why they are walking out. Some are doing it to protest guns. Others to protest school shootings, others assault rifles, others just want to get out of class.

Someone needs to be a damned adult and send a school wide email telling every kid/parent that he/she will be suspended if they walk out.

Ascension Elementary also sent out an email saying it was okay if 1 through 5 grades walked out.

I've seen many letters around the internet from adminstrators to parents regarding these walkouts. Pretty much all of them are "ok" with the walkout, but make certain to mention that rules are still in place and will be followed. So sure kids can walk out if they want, but they'll still face any consequences for it.

just wait and see how fast the law suit will be if a kid gets hurt while they're supposed to be a t school but the admins said it's ok to walk out

That's a very vague message, I'm not sure if that is condoning the walkout or not.

it's not vague at all. It does NOT say walk-outs will not be tolerated. Instead it talks about cooperating so there's "safety" and "order." That's saying it's ok.

Exactly. Schools administrators are pretty dense.

And it doesn't say they will let them walk out. Hence vague.

There is no school named "Ascension Elementary"

Schedule a walk out in support of not letting emotional teenagers dictate policy at the same exact time.

Wichita public schools are planning on handing out detentions. Not slowing down the kids in my school any apparently but it’s something at least.

I’m not sure what they think they’re accomplishing here

High school doesn’t matter anyways. Who cares if the kids miss half a day or less of class?

I've heard that the Ascension Parish superintendent sent out an email basically saying it's ok for the kids to walk out so long as there is safety and order.

That superintendent should be fired.

Why would it ever be OK for the kids to "walk out"?

Mine are on spring break, but if they attempted to "walk out", they wouldn't be able to sit down comfortable for a few days. That's for dang sure.

Beat your kids for having a dumb opinion that disagrees with yours

I'm curious to see the reaction if this were a walk out in support of gun rights in response to a proposed gun ban or something.

so they are going to protest guns by having every high school student in the country walk outside at the same time, making it much easier for some psychopath to perch up somewhere and mow em all down? k

It's not even half a day, the walkout is supposed to last 17 minutes for the 17 kids killed in Florida.

In fairness, we may have a gun problem if your first thought is that kids are going to be viciously mowed down simply for going outside.

But what is the purpose? It's nonsense.
