Well for starters, Pat Shingleton isn't even a meteorologist
Well, he is a Chief Forecaster, so there is that

Also, what Pat does with Pat’s Coats For Kids is a admirable cause.
Maybe, but it's not like this was some original idea of his. Many markets have one of these...it is just called "Rick's Coats for kids" or whatever the weather dude's name is. I've seen it in several markets.

Right, if he were a meteorologist they'd call him one. I'm not hating on Pat.

Why not? It's fun!

It's been many years since the final cuddle alert was announced.

Most models were lining up and in agreement that we would see some snow. What makes WBRZ look bad is that the basically told everyone that these models were wrong and did it in a arrogant way.
The mistake is when the Euro was consistently on board with the other models, though the GFS was a late holdout.
There is no harm casting doubt in the solution, because there were reasons to doubt the models had it right and it was a fine line between bust and inches of snow. WBRZ went too hard at downplaying the possibility outright without really laying out the concerns, especially when the NWS was on board.
Jay Grimes wasn't buying it fully until the night before, but at least mentioned the models and the real possibility. Once it was clear, he was calling for at least an inch across the area. WBRZ, was still saying no go. It's a lesson to see which station you should believe when it's a bit more dangerous.
Though really, just ride the NWS home 95% of the time.

Unfortunately this is where we are at in modern news. They so fear changing and being wrong they will just drive the most likely event so as to appear 100% correct. Instead of just laying it all out there and letting public make the best decision for them and their families

They aren't purporting to be psychics or wizards, dude.

Shingleton isn’t a meteorologist. Nothing more than a screen reader.

Still alive but retired and living the good life from what I’ve been told.

I have been a member of the meteorology community for 30 years and Pat Shingleton is an arrogant a-hole.

Half of a live oak
Look at the bright side, the freezing weather might have killed the termites in your tree. The bad news is that the ones underground are headed for what's left of your house.

How old is he? He has to be at least 80.

Who gets on tigerdroppings when a tree is on their roof & no power... I could think of a few better things to work on.
