Just stupid. I can’t see justification for this real estate lunacy

What $425k can buy you in Broadmoor, Navarre and Gentilly

Price: $419,000
In Broadmoor
3616 Nashville Ave.
This 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom split-level home in Broadmoor has exposed Cypress beams and trim and teak hardwood flooring throughout the living and upstairs areas.
The front door opens to a living and dining room that moves toward the kitchen at the back of the home. A staircase off of the living room moves to a downstairs with a bedroom, bathroom, bonus room and laundry room. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and a bathroom.

Price: $425,000
Navarre
5606 Orleans Ave.
This 1,768-square-foot home is one of a handful on Orleans Avenue that has a view of City Park; the expanded front yard, if you will, begins across the street.
The 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home's garage is accessible from a side street.

Price: $425,000

Gentility
5800 Chatham Dr.
At 3,672 square feet, this 2-story home has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a pool in the backyard.
Its location in Gentilly's Vista Park, between Bayou St. John and the London Avenue Canal, is between Robert E. Lee Boulevard and Filmore Avenue.

All relative. Like comparing Univ Park and Richardson, TX.

Yea. It’s silly.

New Orleans has absolutely no middle class. You’re either wealthy or live in a housing project.

You’re paying the $500K here to not be murdered.

You think that's bad - try looking at what 500k gets you uptown. Laughable.

The Chatham drive house is pretty close to my house. I paid like 250 for mine 6 years ago and now its probably worth 400. It’s absolutely nuts.

$425k is not ‘almost $500k.’

Although i see your point: decent real estate in New Orleans is expensive .. recently sold my house there (for more than $425k, but less than $500k- and am nowhere near riich) and the problem is that, unless you want to leave Orleans Parish, there are embarrassingly few options in terms of decent places to live.. As i like to put it, you i can choose between crime (Uptown) or flooding (Lakeview) and there really isn’t anything else.. not many people who work in NOLA want to cross the longest bridge on the planet to get home, or live in places like Metry or Kennbrah.. is what it is.

You should check out the Asheville, NC area real estate and building market.

I’d think there are plenty of places in Metry that would suffice than traversing across the Causeway bridge everyday.
