I’d think there are plenty of places in Metry that would suffice than traversing across the Causeway bridge everyday.

I was engaged to a girl from Mandeville whose father did this for 30+ years. That had to be a soul crushing commute. No way I could make it twice a day.

The more house for your money than what $500k will get you in Austin, SF, etc.

No way that is possible.

It's not, in my early 20s I used to pay $1000 a month and lived in a nice place in the garden district. Its manageable.

There are people in Folsom and even some across the line in Mississippi who make the commute. 1.5 hours under ideal circumstances. More with any traffic at all.

I know plenty of people that commute, love the larger property on the NS and willing to commute.

God we hated it. Not the same commute but we lived 17 miles from work in the BR burbs and decided we'd rather pay tuition than spend 3-4 hours between the two of us in the vehicle daily

Conversely, there are people on the NS who want to move back to Nola but can't afford the real estate. I know someone in Covington who inherited a house on Lowerline 3 years ago. They sold it for just under 400k. It's appreciated over 50% since then and they wish they had it back to move into.

How can you complain about a commute over the causeway and live in Baton Rouge. That’s the worst traffic on earth.

This is why I could never do city life. I’ll keep my 2 acres, shop and 3 BR 2 BTH 2200 sf custom for < $300k and continue with my 45 min to an hour commute. That drive is a small price to pay.

The Nola real estate market is a confusing, jumbled mess. Gentilly prices are crashing. Mid-City values continue to rise despite constant flooding. Uptown is slowing down while Leonidas is still rising. Hell, even Hollygrove is getting in on the fun.

Here's a house priced at almost $200/sq ft. LINK

Right around the corner is another house priced at less than $100/ sq ft. LINK

I would leave Orleans Parish.
Heck, 15 minutes to the CBD and it’s still too close.
