Ethics barely getting scraps, does not surprise me. Most of that probably goes for commercials on WWL.

2025 NOPD budget was low. Teedy didn’t want cops

Probably talking like 1 person per district making like 75k a year plus pteb

Probably turns that human into a new NOPD community involvement position not actually saving money or alleviating overtime because they won’t be officers…. But why would I be so skeptical?

JP and Helena keep playing the “how could we know, we were lied to” card….

But it just feels like looking around and thinking we had zero dollars in overtime this year would be a level of incompetence even worse than just admitting some complicity

That is basically what she is doing. No matter what Moreno does 90% of this board will shite all over it.

It’s high because they don’t have enough full time cops

If they did, OT would go down but salaries and benefits would go up

So every man woman child incarcerated or not should have to pay an additional $579 to meet that deficit? Let's get a good laugh about the possibility of even half the citiaens paying any taxes at all.

She should steal library, mosquito, and COA funds. I’m sure that would pass in N.O.

The rest of the crappy state of LA without NO would slide off the scale of 50 states and slip beneath Puerto Rico, Haiti, and the DR.

Would definitely lose out on a lot of tax revenue but would save a lot on public safety spending, welfare, and education.

It would be a net negative. You'd lose almost the entire tourism sector for Louisiana and a large portion of the medical sector. Not to mention 3 of the Top 5 zip codes by home value (property taxes).

And you’d still be significantly in the hole. The NO vs rest of LA rivalry on this board is so dumb on both sides.

They have to improve together, there’s no other way around it.

I cropped out the good enforcement section but it said it is self funded through its own revenue so it was unchanged. Think it was $10.5 million

Non profits need to pay property taxes.

You can’t pray away the storm water from your property.

If you are putting water into the storm drains and dooky in the sewer, you need to pay property taxes.

Something like a third of tax parcels in Orleans parish are tax exempt.

Helena is a prog true believer but I do think she might actually be a good mayor.

Nope! The fact that while announcing major layoffs, she adds in that she wants to hire 50 meter maids to generate revenue tells me everything I need to know.

Typical liberal. Need more money, just take more money. That is always their answer.

Someone ought to tell her that her math is not mathing.

Let’s say each meter maid costs 60k a year to employ with taxes, retirement, insurance and benefits. It may be more, we can use that as a starting point.

That comes out to spending an additional 3 million dollars a year.

An expired meter ticket costs 30 dollars. That means those meter maids need to write an additional 100,000 parking tickets a year just to cover their salaries not including the other administrative costs in collecting and processing the ticket fines. Meaning they may need to write close to an additional 150,000 tickets a year.

With nearly 100 million already in unpaid tickets do you think they are going to collect an additional 3 million a year to cover these new meter maids.

Instead of 50 meter maids how about 50 police officers instead and assign them street details to combat crime on the street and to write parking tickets and manage downtown traffic as their primary activity.

City Government is dramatically over-inflated. They have 167 open positions. That’s just the open spots, I shiver to think about how many people get paid to run the worst-run city in America.
