Is it not very likely the guy just took the shot from the side where there was no body armor as that's the only shot he had? It must have been a lower abdomen shot anyway probably below standard body armor as it didn't kill the guy? I'd think a shot in the arm pit or 4-6 inches under the arm pit would most likely kill you pretty quickly with a deer caliber? That's going to wreck your chest cavity at 150 yards or less.

I haven't read how far the shot was? But you take a .270 or larger caliber from under 150 yards and you are lucky if body armor is going to stop it. You are also going to feel that hit even if it does. It can easily knock you out or at least take your breath away for a couple of seconds.

Carson you should be smart enough to realize the shooter was fat. They don't make ballistic vests for fat people

Ol baw prolly scored a side shot.

This is a result of an increasingly negative, socially lagging, narcissistic society. People would rather tear something down than build something up. It's epidemic.

Yep. Somehow pointing out the hyperbole of the journalist has morphed into an attack on the hero with the big balls to go confront that fricker. If the guy had gotten on TV and made the claim that he shot at the gap in the armor, I wouldn’t say a word even knowing it’s unlikely but that didn’t happen. The guy hasn’t given an interview at all yet the journalist decided to dub him a “crack shot” and make the claim. Why not focus on the fact that he made a snap decision to get involved and saved lives? Isn’t that enough? And what Editor approved that story? He didn’t question his reporter writing that?

Do we know what the ole man shot him with?

Article could have been just overreaching on what occured. The shot could have went through the body armor for all we know.

I was actually issued a flak vest that had a warning label inside that said it wouldn't stop high powered rifle rounds or blades.

I guess we were safe if someone threw rocks at us... maybe?

Nearly all hand gun rounds short of .44 mag, .22 mag, and high velocity .357, and 9x23mm rounds

If you're being hit with bigger things than those, you're having a pretty bad tome anyways.

Yeah, here's your protection... but it won't stop rifle rounds, most handgun rounds, any type of bladed weapon, or anything point-blank range. Other than that, you're safe as frick wearing this thing.

ETA - This guy probably didn't have the good, expensive body armor. He probably had some shitty flak vest he bought at a surplus store.

It will stop all handgun rounds except the ones I listed.

Unless you're being mugged by dirty harry

Most Kevlar weave will stop the shitty edge most stainless knives have. You'll get stabbed, but no lacerations.

As for rifle rounds, plates are your friend. And even then, frick that.

Since the shooter was a die hard leftist and antifa member, how long will it be before the left vilifies these two heroes?

Should have shot him in the head so the gun nuts wouldn't have anything to argue about.

This brings up the scene from Dumb and Dumber about the body armor: "what if he shot him in the head? That was a risk we were willing to take"
