Make sure to get the zip up sleepers, nothing sucks worse than trying to get the buttons right when changing a diaper at 2:30 am and you don't want to turn the light on.

If you've got the books "what to expect while you're expecting" and "what to expect the first year" you'll be set. They go through month to month expectations.
Good luck on the sleep. Congrats.

Fisher Price Rocking sleeper. Just go buy it now along with Dr. Brown Natrual flow bottles and some Mylacon(sp)/Little Remedies gas relief drops.
Also watch "The Happiest Baby on the Block". All the shite in the video may not work but it helps.
When friends and family give you tips on baby care just smile, nod and say thank you. It's your kid raise them however the frick you want and do what's best for you and your wife.
Hire a cleaning service and prep a meals now that can be frozen and warmed up later.

Happiest baby on the block and baby wise were both really helpful books.
Binkies/ pacifiers can be a life saver too. Hate to need one at 4 am and not have it. Get a pack and have it just in case. Bonus info: babies who use binkies have a reduced risk of SIDS.
Sam's formula is even less expensive than Wal-Mart's and is also just as good or better than name brands.
Don't invest in a ton of bottles till you know what kind works best for baby. They get pricy, and if it makes him gassy it's going in the trash.
If breastfeeding, get a cover with a neck loop for privacy. Rent a double pump (don't buy one till you know it's going to be a go though. Mom or baby may not take to it).
One of those bouncy seats that vibrate and play music. And/or a swing.
Learn how to swaddle. Practice on a doll or a stuffef animal now. Don't try to learn after it comes.

Pack good eye drops in your suitcase for the hospital. Not Visine- something stronger. The one that worked really well for me started with an S.
Pain meds will make your eyes so dry and painful. The drops are a life saver.
Pack snacks for the hospital stay. Like nut/M&M mix you can get at sam's or target. Or whatever kind of nutrient dense snack you can think of- anything that'll be easy to eat at 3am when you're starving.
Other than that the chances are high that you're prepared.

Go grocery shopping before the baby comes and buy some freezer meals or something you can cook fast. For the first week or so after we were back home, there was no time for cooking and it didnt matter anyway, the wife and I weren't up at the same time. I only took off two days from work so it helped the wife out too when she was at home by herself with the baby.
Learn to swaddled before the baby gets here. Its something you want to have down beforehand. Trying to learn on the fly doesn't work with a moving baby.

I have a 6 week old. He sleeps in a Fisher Price rock n play and we use his swing a lot also. Don't spend a ton on the monitor, all you really need is one for noise. Get gripe water and Nam pacifiers. Good luck, say prayers, and be sure your wife breastfeeds.

Boppy pillow, Aden and anais muslin swaddle blankets and cloth diapers to use as burp cloths....those were great for our first.

Rock n Play is the way to go. It's like a hammock for babies and all of mine have used it as well as some friends of ours. You will save yourself some restless nights (your gonna get a bunch in the beginning regardless.)
