You provided him with a good life during the many months you had him. He loved you for it. And you obviously became attached to him. Sorry to hear that he passed away. Cats are awesome and smart.

Why would anyone want a used cat?

His name was Earl. He may have been "used" but originally he was an old couple's kitten then they got sick. One of my wife's patients then took him and cooped him up in a 40 year old RV and he didn't want it so my wife brought him home.

I always wondered what it would be like to be abducted by aliens and placed in a cage in one of their zoos. With my luck, the alien that got me would lock me in a storage room or shop.

It started with a farm cat that had kittens.

We took one of the kittens home and he grew in a 27 lb cat that wants to be a dog.
Then his mother had issues and took her in.

I enjoy them.
I have an inside outside dog while the cats stay inside. They are all bonded and get along.

My dog getting older and has a hard time traveling. My little meower will jump in the truck and loves going for a ride.

As far as sleeping late nope my Cat that is like a puppy gets me up 5:30 am sharp. He is right on the dot 5:30 am meeeoooow. I have watched him. He gets on the floor next to the bed around 5:00 am. He waits and I do not know how he does it. 5:30 am he is getting us up.

One day when I was 13 or 14 a kitten was in my garage. I let him inside and left and went to spend the night at a friends house. The next day I found him curled up in our guest room on a futon.

I’m grown and moved out and have a family of my own but I loved seeing him running up to me when I pull up.

You don’t have to keep a litterbox in your house. We never did, my mom would never allow it. His litterbox and bowls are in the garage but he sleeps every night in the house.

You’d be sleeping at 5 am and he would meow at your door to be let out and fed lol.

He’s a treasure of my childhood and beloved by everyone in the neighborhood.

If you had footprints on your car window in the morning. you knew it was ours.

I’m sorry for your loss.

I lost my buddy last fall. Found him on a construction site and had him for 3 years, he was so attached to me and slept on my desk with his head laying on my mouse arm as I used the computer

I still think about him and his personality just like I would any human friend I lost.

I’m glad to see cats getting some love on this board. I used to be one of the few weird cat guys on the board while y’all all bragged about how bad arse your dogs were. I’ll sleep a little easier tonight.

With my cat here stalking around the place like a silent assassin.

You got lucky. Cats will keep mice away. I had one that killed 189 nice over her 18 year life span.
