You keep on talking about articles when we are talking about the MSM news channels. Are you really this obtuse?

The fact that you admit you have to search and find it proves it’s not getting the attention it should.
Search? I went to abc news and there’s a link to a section devoted to Helene. It’s incredibly easy to find article after article on every MSM’s website (except fox news for some reason. Don’t know why they are ignoring this story)

Ok so if we want Helene coverage we can go and find it.
If we want to know what Hezbollah is up to half a world away we can just turn our TVs on.
Cool.

How can they do that without power? Even if they include a generator how do they do that when the roads are washed out between where they are and where the tower needs to be?
And how do you power said generator when there’s no fuel.
It’s a logistics nightmare. Fedgov should sent the military in with heavy duty off road equipment and amphibious vehicles capable of getting through the mud and water to bring fuel, food, mobile cellular towers to the areas and bring people trapped back out. Fabricate temporary bridges and such. We are capable of doing it but we would rather waste money and resources on Ukraine

Just to add onto this discussion, there are people all over Facebook wondering if they can still take their trips planned to Asheville and surrounding areas in the next week or two.
That’s probably the last thing that Asheville needs right now. I don’t think people who are unfamiliar with the area understand the scope of this situation.

The news can’t get here any more than the guard can. You have to understand it’s easy to fly into flat land. NOT so easy to fly into a Ridge and Valley Mountain chain. Roads are out and where you gonna land? Low lying areas are flooded. Many of us are surrounded by lakes, rivers and National and State Parks. You might land on a hospital roof but you saw what was going on in Unicoi county. What good would landing there do you because now you’re surrounded by rapidly moving water the size of a small lake.

In New Orleans the morning news on the local Fox 8 affiliate had about a 5-minute segment about the flooding and damage caused in that area and links and phone numbers to donate aid.

I read I think 31 earlier today somewhere in here.
I fear it’s going to be in the hundreds, maybe thousands. It’s low now because most areas aren’t reachable to even begin search and rescue

There was a guy offering use of his runway and begging to be connected to the proper authorities in state and federal government. From the description it sounds like it’s in or near Mountain Air, NC.

There was a poster in here who literally said that the MSM isn’t covering this story at all. I was just pointing out how wrong that is. There’s a lot of coverage.
If you think there should be even more coverage that’s understandable. But to say it’s being ignored is patently false.
If you’re mad you’re not seeing CNN reporters live on the scene then you’re going to be mad for a while - I don’t think their reporters are trained to parachute into places like Boone. The devastation in the mountains is pretty much inaccessible right now.

From WLOS in Asheville
quote:
(10:30 AM) - 10 killed, at least 1,000 unaccounted for in Buncombe County.
Sheriff Quentin Miller announces that 10 people have been killed in Buncombe County and around 1,000 are currently unaccounted for. Miller says that the names of the deceased will not be released until county officials are certain that next of kin are contacted first.
quote:
Chief Anthony Penland of Swannanoa said there has been mass devastation throughout the area, and that a portion of Old US Hwy 70 is no longer there. There is a task force team helping to get to more people in the area, and there are currently two private helicopters dropping food at two locations:Harley-Davidson andFirst Baptist Church Swannanoa.

That has frick all to do with reporting & covering a domestic natural disaster currently taking place
Actually makes it look worse on the MSM for giving it little to no on air coverage that there are whole towns that can not be reached because of the devastation
They have zero problems reporting from the craters of bombs in war torn 3rd world shitholes but can't setup a press tent nearby or draw any eyeballs to just how bad the people of Eastern TN Western NC & North GA are suffering
Why anyone is defending the flipping media is mind boggling to me

Hope those numbers go down by a lot when communications pick up.

It's not so much defending as trying to figure out why y'all are this bent out of shape, given the logistical situation in Western NC.

This is a flood event that will geographically alter the landscape and water drainages for hundreds and/or thousands of years to come.

It has everything to do with it. No one wants to see the same footage on a loop. Reporters can’t get in to gather first hand intel and interview people. Most of what they have right now is coming from people recording things on their own and finding a way to upload it.
The news has never met an Appalachian they didn’t want to show struggling with tragedy. It’s a meme for god’s sake.

And this is where I blame the national media for the lack of coverage. 80% of the country have no clue of the devastation in WNC.
You might be able to take that fall Asheville / WNC trip. Fall 2025 or 2026 that is. :(
