Who was the storm chaser that said he was getting 180mph winds during Laura? Someone got his number and kept calling him during his stream and it would cause his stream to stop.

My question got lost in the discussion, but I'm genuinely curious: Looking at it from the standpoint of geography/geometry, would a hurricane moving into a semi-enclosed, concentrated area like this magnify the storm surge, as opposed to a more linear coastline like MS, LA or AL? It would seem like all that mass of the water moving into an enclosed area would intensify the effects of landfall?
Sort of like if you dropped down a curved wall into a wave pool and set yourself dead center of it, one would assume it'd be far more turbulent than not?

The eye seems to be moving due north to northwest now that it is getting closer to the landfall.
