I honestly don’t follow the PAC storms as much.. I just know pinhole eyes are a really bad thing..
Yeah pinhole eyes are Peak hurricane. Think of an ice skater. When she’s got her arms out she’s not spinning as fast, but as soon as she brings her arms toward her body, she starts spinning rapidly. Same physics with hurricanes. Winds accelerate as the eye shrinks.

We'll see shortly if that actually is a pinhole eye forming. That would be rather remarkable if it is considering the size and structure of the eye barely an hour ago. Maybe it is, but I'm doubtful. There was also no wind data to support that rapid of strengthening. The plane left a bit ago, and we don't have one in it now.

Yeah it may just be the beginning of clearing out a larger eye in this case.

Pinhole eye. Explain how the conditions can lead to one happening, how long they can last, how rare they are, and how rapidly strengthening can occur with one (and if that was factored in here)

A pinhole would be shocking after what recon showed us.
Yes, I think its starting to cook a little but let's cool down on the IR talk for another hour or two.

Sorry but do you have any good suggestions?? I forgot Panama City Beach is a billion miles away from where the track is going. It’s to pass the time. I even looked for Apalachacola cams and none were worth sharing.

Honestly that looks amazing, considering it was just a clump of clouds earlier today

Pinholes are usually reserved for cat 5 storms. A cat 1 is still organizing structurally. Take a look at that Wilma pic a few pages back. The thunderstorms are evenly distributed around the eye. There are no weaknesses. Now look at Helene. Helene’s eye is comparably sloppy to Wilma….for now…

And the water is very warm….

GFS no change in track or timing but 949 mb just offshore from 959 previously.

I agree. This storm is too big. It’s like getting a fat kid to do a somersault.

Don’t like GFS with the pressure drops…
