Must be nice to be single and have zero responsibility

He’s either getting a subsidy or his employer is paying the bulk of his premium.

I’m single and am paying over $600 per month with a deductible of around 3k or so. I’ll have to look up my exact numbers again for next year, but I’ve been continually butt fricked by Obamacare since it’s inception.

I have a HSA plan through work. Mine is $163/mo, $2,500 deductible, 100% after deductible. Company doesn't fund the HSA though. Ours went down about 2% for 2019. If you take the difference between what I pay and what you pay that adds up to the amount your company puts in to the HSA so that's a wash. The difference is the deductible. That's insane that it's so expensive for a deductible that high.

Damn, that’s terrible.

I have a $3,000 deductible then everything is 100% covered. My company gives me $1,000 in my HSA annually so my OOP deductible is really$2,000.

Monthly premium is around $250 because I get $250 off per quarter through Red Brick.

$25 for regular Doctor
$40 for ER

Medicine is similar but it is in tiers.

Tier 1- max oop $5
Tier 2- Mzx oop $10
Tier 3-Max oop $25
Tier 4-Max OOP $50
Tier 5- Max OOP $100? I think

$84/month, $2k deductible then 40% coinsurance up to $6k OOPM. Employer is contributing $50/month to HSA. This is single person coverage for me.

We don't even feel like we can use the damn insurance b/c of the high arse deductible.

What are your average health care expenses per year? What would the premium be for a non-HSA qualified plan?

Also, would need to know employer contribution as well. They could just be increasing your share.

Added the company's cost to the original post

Sounds like you're getting fricked by your employer as well. That is an absurd premium for that type of policy. Our Co-pay plan for employee only is total a little over $400/mo if company didn't pay any of it, with $1000 deductible and $6k out of pocket max.

How is this shite even affordable?

Reading this I would like to thank my employer for paying 100% of my coverage for good insurance. I don't know how much it costs them per month, per employee but I know it is near $1,000.

Cost to me - $0 per month
Deductible - $1500
Co pay physician - $20
Co pay specialist - $35
Quality blue - $5

This year (including having a child) I have paid $673.50, so not bad at all.

Don't know of changes for next year, nothing has changed in the years since I started.

I don't know exactly how much my husband pays for him and the kid, but it's a couple hundred per month with a $4,000 deductible (100% covered after that). Got to the $4,000 pretty quickly with a 3 week NICU stay, but everything else this year, including my husband's knee surgery and son's surgery have been 100% covered. So I really can't complain.

Another cost saving tip is to utilize a MD live option most plans offer.

Nope.

Thanks Obama for turning normal health insurance into what use to be considered cheaper high-deductible catastrophic insurance.

It was funny yesterday when Pelosi was talking about transparency I instantly thought of how shady the dems were when they pushed obama-care. Smfh

I work in healthcare and bill insurance claims. Since Obamacare it is now very common to see $5000 deductibles, where as before, it was extremely rare. Obamacare did nothing to improve healthcare or it's costs. It just rewarded the insurance companies and allowed people to carry a worthless card in their wallet. Pay the premium, then pay 100% of the cost of the because the massive deductible isn't met, and probably won't be until you get severely sick or injured.

It’s just not worth the risk to me. One big surgery can frick you without insurance. Or one round of biological drugs - I spent a year having to take twice weekly injections and without insurance they would have been $4200 per month.

I almost got bitten by a rattle snake once while hiking and later saw this posted

Anyone know the cheapest flight to Canada?

So you csn pay 40% income tax?

I worked with a guy when I was younger, before obama-care, who married a girl from Canada. She had a messed up knee needing a replacement from an accident. She was on hold, and pushed off up there for yrs. They got married, and she moved here. Went to the doctor, and was having surgery by weeks end. She was amazed.

One thing is getting a "check-up" in those countries, but actually getting something done if something is needed is the kicker.
