Have you looked at dental insurance? I would argue that dental care costs are even more astronomical, and dental insurance plans usually have about a 1,000 to 1,500 cap on benefits. After that, it's all up to you.

Because when certain segments of society abuse healthcare, people with insurance foot the bill in the form of premiums.

Health care was better in the 70's and 80's
My granddad died in 1980 because the closest place that did bypasses was Houston and he was too sick to be moved that far. Now they're commonplace in any decent sized city and a lot of smaller ones.

Your underwriting is based upon the risk pool as a whole. Data from one plan year is used to assist in the upcoming risk as well as increases of various values in healthcare hardly any of us could quote. Always remember the sickest 10% of a pool constitute 90% of total group overall health spend. The same is true for pharmacy benefits.

Broad sweeping indictment here. I think most medical providers, high risk construction companies, etc would disagree.
They may not like the handling of a claim. But when a plaintiff attorney is going after them over something blatantly frivolous, it's quite nice knowing your defense is paid for and someone else besides you has skin in the game.

This time eleventy billion. The introduction of co-pay completely screwed the consumer. That is when they were able to hide the cost of care and jack up cash services.
