I'm really impressed with your post and personality. Your good publicity caught my attention. I don't normally write in the comment section, but I think you deserve this compliment. I'd like to be your friend if you don't mind sending me a friend request..

I do not answer, do not respond to a text, nada.
I don't the sender to even believe that they reached a valid number aka someone associated with the number who would respond.
First, there's no doubt that telephone numbers are sold to the highest bidder in blocks by assholes who should not be given out the numbers in the first place.
Second, I also believe that people are paid to filter those numbers by calling them to create a list of numbers in which calls/texts to those numbers have been answered. Those filtered lists are probably again sold at premiums.

A guy that works for me had a similar scam run on him. I got him into crypto and he soon after got divorced and was on dating websites. He met a "russian girl" who after a week or two got him to send his $40k worth of crypto to some other exchange so he could start making the gains she was getting on hers and as soon as he sent it, poof...it was hers. And by "her", I mean probably some fat nerd in a basement.

love texts and phone call scam attempts. I like to jack around with them.

same here, I played the long game on one a couple years back. I don't remember the exact scam, something like I was going to do some work for him at a house he was moving to from out of state. He supposedly also had painters going there in the next few days and wanted me to pay cash to them on his behalf. So he sent me a fake check for full amount on my supposed job plus extra for the painters job. All total, it was around 4-5k. I got a fake check in first class mail and checked numbers, the routing number on it didn't even match the bank he showed it from. I told him I deposited it, then said the bank put a 7-10 day hold on it because the large amount, which is something they do. He would ask me a couple times a day if it cleared. On day two he claimed the money had cleared his account and that he was upset that I was holding his money, acting as though I'm a scammer and requested I send him proof that it was still on hold. So I doctored up an email from my bank from an actual transaction of a prior check on hold and a screen shot of active account transactions showing his information, etc and sent that to him. Then I told him it must be a problem with his account and he should contact his bank. I probably wasted 10 minutes of my time with all of this over a weeks time. Hopefully I got his hopes up and wasted some of his time.

This guy is an idiot.

I got one of these and the scammer used a photo of this popular Korean actress that I recognized from Netflix.

Has anybody else been getting HAMMERED with spam calls?

Holy shite - I don't know what list I got on, but it's been relentless for the last two weeks or so.

If I predecease my husband, I’m worried he will fall victim. He shows me texts all the time and asks my opinion. They are always obviously scams to me. He received the Nigerian Prince scam in an email back in the 90s, and asked what I thought. Oy vey.

Im getting 25 calls a day on my office phone. Nothing on my work cell or personal cell. All indian Medicare BS. Sometimes the prerecorded “are you there”. Sometimes straight to “Tim”
Have to answer them coming in on the work line. Most have a 225 code but ID says out of area But every so often a legit call with 225, out of area showing
The spoofing numbers happening too

Sometimes i go thru the steps to talk to “your senior advisor”. Then waste 10 seconds not saying a word or telling them to go frick themselves

I do worry fricking with them may get me added to more lists but ive had all i can take

Sounds a lot like what's happening to me.

I've given many thousands of dollars to Social Security. Probably won't see any of it back in 20yrs.

Best thing anyone can do is not respond. Don't reply. Dont acknowledge. Report the spam and move on.

If you’re over age 65 and eligible for Medicare then yes you’re probably getting a lot of calls. It’s the annual enrollment period and this will happen every year around this time. Don’t give them any information, even if they tell you that you’re eligible for additional benefits and even cash back. There’s always a catch.
Always Do your Medicare business with local agents, like myself

If you have a Houston number and they accidentally texted you (trying to text another Houston number) then obviously that person lives in Houston too.
