Talked with a friend of mine that is a chef on Maui. He has been laid off and doesn't know what to do. "It's a ghost town, there is nobody here". "There is no way this Island survives harvesting pineapples and sugar cane".

He and his roommates have constructed a chicken pen in the front yard. Bought some chicks. "Eggs for three years, then broilers after that, if I can keep my girlfriend from naming them".

In February, Hawaii’s workforce was about 651,000 strong, and unemployment was just 2.7% ? far below the national average.

LOL. I am supposed to go to Hawaii in July. Doubt it's gonna happen. My sister lives on Maui (we lived there for a year). This is crazy.

It’s going to get quite bad for the restaurant and hotel industry. I expect Americans will travel less, go out less, and spend less for the foreseeable future.

I lived in East Honolulu for two years. The locals are the most racist people in the United States by far.

You lived in East Honolulu as in Kokohead or Diamondhead? Those are the nice spots of Honolulu. Try living in Waipahu or Ewa Beach as a haole. They are incredibly racist and don’t hide it but there are also some amazing people out there as well. It is usually the poor and uneducated there who were the most racist, just like everywhere else.
