You end up leaving, then later on you find out that things have gotten progressively worse there.

Yep.
My current job.

It's a disaster.

I'm looking for a better job.

I got put in this role as part of a spinoff. Wasn't my choice.
I tried to make it work.

Sometimes shite ain't meant to be.

I worked at a place where all of us were always wrong. We tried to make it work but it didn't. Closed up and bankrupt in less than 2 years

I have found that people love to finger point.

If they can find a fall guy to blame versus actually addressing the problem, they usually do

It’s what happens when a manager/boss isn’t ready/meant to have his position. A lot of the times these people have “holier than thou” mindsets and or micro managing.
It could also be that your manager is scared you will take his/her job, and wants his/her boss to see that you are incompetent (if you are actually next in line to them).

Remember this experience if and when you become a higher ranking manager/boss. Nobody enjoys working for those types of people so figure out how not to become them.

ETA. Obligatory if you could learn how to run the damn milkshake machine you wouldn’t stay in trouble.

Yep. Worked for a boss that was stealing from the company and defrauding clients. He got caught by management and thought I was the whistleblower (I wasn’t, he was so sloppy there was no need for one). So, until I quit, I was blamed for everything that went wrong on the site and was thrown under the bus at every opportunity in front of clients.
