It's sad to see how dilapidated most of the city looks outside of the Uptown bubble. Half of the storefronts in the first couple of blocks on St. Charles Ave are empty, boarded up, or graffitied. The city is a ghost-town after 10pm and most people you see walking around seem on edge. It wasn't like this in 2019 and all of the good vibes/optimism you saw in the last decade is gone. The downfall really seems to have started after the Hard Rock collapse and has gone into overdrive with Latoya at the helm.

I reluctantly went to New Orleans a couple years ago to visit the WWII museum because my son is a WWII buff and so am I. While I did enjoy the stay I felt a sense of relief when we were leaving. I will not be going back if I can help it. If I never see New Orleans again it won’t hurt my feelings.

You attended this game in 2020.

New Orleans has a high murder rate. That is indisputable. The city may reach 250 murders in 2022. But people acting like this is new or the end of New Orleans are overreacting.

In 1994 I was 18 living in Baton Rouge. We went to New Orleans every chance we got. Sometimes planned, sometimes a drunk decision at 2am in Tigerland.
New Orleans had over 400 murders that year.
We didn't care.

Now in 2022, New Orleans approaches half that total, yet the media and social media have you all terrified about coming to New Orleans. That's just silly.

You are correct. I get my seasons and years mixed up when it comes to college football.

I only go to NOLA for medical appointments, weddings, and funerals. It's kinda hard to plan my "last trip".

The airport and having to go down there for work occasionally is really the only reason I ever end up there. I haven't been in the FQ in well over a decade.

I was a Saints season ticket holder in the early 00's back when I guess my priorities were a little different. I brought the kids down there a few years ago for a game and walked them through so much weed smoke and f-bombs and n-bombs, they were scared to death. But hey brah, that's all just Teedy. At least none of us got stabbed.

Only reason I can see going back there is possibly something like a funeral that I'd need to attend. Outside of something like that... I hope I never step foot in the city again.

Most of our friends there have died. Our last trips were getting our boat away from Eden Isles after Katrina.

There are still businesses there that we use: Camellia Beans, Riverside Lumber, Promenade Fabrics, the fiberglass folks (now out in Jefferson Parish), and Helm Paint. RJMarchand is gone and they were my go to source for tools and repair. Southern Lighting was a staple for us, but we have all the lights we need.

So many good companies run by excellent people. They are missed by us.

New Orleans is still a great American City, full of life, culture, and revelry. Trolls like you nor media can't destroy that, no matter how hard you try.

Teedy can. And is.

Just yesterday, I got asked to go to a Saints game. I declined. Crime is just too bad.
This is an absurd comment. My kids have been going to games for the last 12 years and I have been going for the last 40+. Never had an issue with anyone on a gameday.

New Orleans had a chance at a rebound post Katrina and just blew it.

I remember my first Saints game back in the City. The people said to me: "Thank You for coming."

Now you dodge bullets to the restaurants and the Saints wear hoodies...

My last trip for fun to NOLA was last year. Took the family and stayed a week. Never again. Pure trash. Bums everywhere smell of pot all over the place. Homeless encampments. Did not feel safe at all. frick Teedy for having dealt the killing blow.

I’m a Savannah guy now. Just came back from there last month.

Oh boy!

ANOTHER one of these useless NOLA-bashing threads.

Enjoy your downvote.
