I keep asking college volleyball players but haven't gotten the opportunity yet.

Both untrained? Not super long. An athlete that size will be able to muscle out of that pretty quickly. Now if the smaller guy has trained he can probably move and reset for a bit and do ok control wise. Also good wrestlers are a handful no matter the size in bjj. At least that’s been my experience.

Have I wrestled someone who is 5'8"? Absolutely. I used my tremendous girth and center of gravity to subdue them.

In combat, being in the ground is actually the position where length matters least.

Length is the most advantageous when people are on their feet.

I fought a guy in Fat City once who was 6’7”. Wound up in a wrestling match because we were both tired and inebriated. I won though because I got the first shot in. Wound up being good friends. Still apologize to this day.

Yes, in one of my first jiu jitsu tournaments. Got moved up two weight classes because of low participation. Other dude was easily 9" taller than me and 40lbs heavier. Was not easy, but held my own. Lost 2-0 on points. It's happened many times now in practice or in an open division in a tournament. It get's a less intimidating as you develop more skill, but length and weight can be a major advantage to someone that knows how to use it. I think all cops should be trained in jiu jitsu. It's the art of knowing how to use weight and leverage properly to control the other person without injuring them. Yes, you could injure someone else if you wanted to, but justice is served to assholes.

In a fight Beiber vs Jordan, if Jordan were to lie in the prone position, how long do you think Beiber could hold him down?

True. However, a trained guy with length can be pretty devastating on his back. Tough for a shorter guy to get around long arms and legs framing against him and attacking.

Yeah. I was 7. My cousin was probably 13. He had about a foot of height and 60lbs on me.

It became very clear very quickly I was going to lose the fight playing by the rules.

So I threw dirt in his eyes. Kicked/stomped him in in the ankles. And ran like hell. We actually laughed about the story last Christmas.

I never had to fight any of my other cousins ever again.
