In playground ball my teams won a few. Then flag football in my 20’s. Nothing glorious, but it sure satisfied the competitive instinct.

My oldest has won district with his school team in basketball.

My youngest is an exceptional athlete (for a 13 year old) and has won 3 city league football championships and a rec league basketball tournament. He’s usually a pretty big part of them winning and has been first pick in the draft a number of years.

Disclaimer: I am under no impression he’s going pro or hot shite. He’s just a good athlete for his age.

He didn’t win last spring and was pretty bummed. I mentioned that you’ve already won twice and the majority of your friends have never won a single time. Get over it kid. You’re going to lose some more as life goes on. He then won it again in the fall.

Personally, my team won district in track twice in HS.

I love these threads. It gives me a chance to say I won a state championship in the 4x800m relay in high school and haven't done anything of note since

same but 4x400m relay

unless we count the church league pickleball championship I won one time

Yo Salmdog,

I hope you saw my mea culpa on MTV board. I was joking and edited my post to make sure it was taken as a joke after you replied.

Just didn’t want to come off as a complete a-hole.

I have a state football championship ring buried somewhere in my crap from high school. I didn't play football, though. I was the mascot, which was technically considered a cheerleader. Since they usually gave the cheerleaders rings, they gave me a football one. I think I threw it in a box the day I got it and haven't looked at it since.

I always thought it was funny that my letterman pins on my jacket were a bullhorn for cheerleading a rifle for riflery. Probably on the more rare side of pin combinations. They eventually nixed the rifle team because of school shootings.

As a player and as a coach.

Senior Year, All Far East Champions in Football. I was the starting quarterback. All Conference QB.

Junior and Senior Year. All Far East Champions in Baseball All Conference Catcher and All Conference Batter my Senior year.

Coached a Senior League 13-15 year old group Undefeated for three years. City Tournament Champs for two years.

Had a 14 year old pitcher clocked by the Detroit Tigers throwing 92 mph. Kid played for Florida and later for the Cubs in the minors.

Tigers also studied a pick off play I developed with bases loaded and used it in a major league game. We had the benefit of a Hall of Fame Detroit Tiger in the dugout with us for two of those seasons. He called the Tigers to come and scout our pitcher.

Well, I coached a few youth Champ teams on football, basketball & baseball in TX. Never played on a champ team. Yes, it is a special moment. Those “kids” are now in there 30s & when they get together, at some point, it will come up. To this day, it is still, “Hi Coach”. Pretty neat :-)

The gift of Coaching....Years later I was officiating football, working to get into the SEC. Had a heart issue that eventually required a pacemaker. I passed out on a punt return ...after I killed the ball on a punt. Paramedics are starting an IV and getting me ready for the ride to the hospital. Kid stops working on me and asks ...."Coach____ from Cross Bayou Little League?" "Don't tell me you are one of my ball players." "No, I was on the Blue Jays, we all wanted to play for you and Cap." "Good because all my players are in prison now." It was great to see them grow up. Especially the kids you thought would be in prison along the way.
