I have. I left Nola a couple years ago for Colorado. I always wanted to check thing out West, and overall it's been a good experience. I miss my friends and family. I miss a lot about Nola. But overall, it's been a good move.

But I do get homesick for the gulf coast, but not during this time of year. I hate summer by the gulf.

A buddy of mine suggested Colorado, but I don't think I could ever live in a land locked state.

I've been doing research on places to move. I guess I'm getting old but I find myself looking at articles on good places to retire or best small towns, etc. I have been happy here in BR and never really thought about moving until the last year or so but now find myself wanting to find a scenic, quiet place to buy a place with the idea of eventually living there full-time.

How is he unable to "meet new people" now? IS he trying to avoid bad influences? an ex perhaps?

If this guy is antisocial/introverted, a new city will not change those things.

probably should be more specific. It's a big place and not all of it is good.

There aren't real walls up where the lines are on the maps. It's just imaginary. Go check it out.

Do it and don't think too much beforehand. If you don't like it after a year, you can always come back

Has there ever been a more misleading name for a street?

If the plant fumes don't kill me, the flying bullets will...and I'm white...so there's that.

Don't have a problem meeting new people, I frequent local bars often on the weekends, and have a great time just about every time I go..

Idk exactly how to explain the feeling, maybe feeling stuck, or fear of being stuck, always wondering "what if"

There's plenty of issues here. The cost of living is very high compared to the South. But I wanted to be around mountains and a good music scene. Everyone has different wants.

I will say, it gets harder the older you get. I'm not sure if it's because people behind jaded and untrusting with age. But I did my first move out of Florida, and each one had been a little tougher to meet people. If I didn't play music, it would've be very hard.

I tried this once after my divorce. In the shirt term, it added more stress.

In the long term--much happier that I moved on.

I did when I was in college. I was lonely, struggling in school, couldn't stand my parents, ect. However, I started tryig to change that. I took risks, made new friends, ect. that gave me confidence and purpose which led to me meeting a girl. I then looked around one day and noticed that my life didn't suck anymore. I wasn't lonely, I wasn't struggling so much any more, and my life had purpose and goals. The issue wasn't my surroundings, but me. Once I embraced my situation and set out to make the absolute most of it, I got more out of it than I ever imagined possible.

I hope some of this helps, and you find what it is you are looking for

Has anyone else felt like this, or actually gone through with it

Im considering it right now actually, except moving out west instead of east. Starting over a career or changing a career is daunting. Leaving my family and friends is one of the main things holding me back. That, and not having the balls to take the risk. I have been thinking about it daily for months now and Im very undecided. No wife, no kids and in the prime of my life. Financially stable with all debt being clear in a matter of months. Im just so up in the air about it.

I left Baton Rouge 2 years ago after living there my whole life and haven't looked back.

Best thing I've ever done.
