Have you ever seen gold bars change hands for a business transaction

Yesterday, I met with my attorney concerning a succession and when he went into his safe there were three gold bars.
I asked what they were for, he wouldn't disclose, but did provide me with a hypothetical situation.
Like if you wanted to transfer money without a trace knowing it would eventually be transferred back. An off the books means of providing collateral.
Now I'm no stranger to bag men, and in a lot of the third world, a lot of louisiana manufacturing companies still openly operate this way. But I have never once dropped off a damned gold bar.
That's a real OT baller.

I prefer to use them as doorstops.

Where do you even bring a bar of gold to get cash for it? I wouldn't think those shitty cash for gold places would be the best payout

That's the thing... They never intend it to be cashed out.
The collateral is eventually returned.
It's ingenious really.

Only one I saw was my g'pa had one when I was a kid. He had a full brick and also a thinner one if I recall. Really cool looking.

Only when I sold that girl in the UAE

It was until that rat bastard Nixon took us off the gold standard and tied our dollar to oil

Let’s just say it’s not unusual in certain circles. Especially B2B transactions that don’t want traces for tax purposes.

Did his name rhyme with Dick Naban by chance?

Like half of the deals I’m involved with on wechat involve gold bars.
To most people doing legal business there isn’t much of a reason for you to see them.

Full sized, Fort Knox, gold bars or little small ones?

Incorrect. There are $11B in gold reserves. There are $1.7T in circulation.
11/1700 = 00.0064
Each dollar is "backed" by $00.006 gold.

Not Gold Bars but Rolls* of Krugerrands, Gold Eagles, & Maple Leafs, which I'm much more confident in dealing with than gold or silver bars.
I've been on both sides of those kinds of transactions.
Gold and Silver are HEAVY in any quantity.

Only when buying/selling people.

I buy the little silver bars for the safe. But I've gotta say I have to get some gold. I didn't realize how much internal light it seems to have.
