This is my truth. I've always been able to handle my drinking, my drugs, and my gambling. I enjoy them all but only in moderation.
But a beautiful woman is something totally different for me. I damn near have a seizure trying not to give in to that temptation. Show me a hot blonde with some jiggly tits and I go weak in the knees.
I went to two SEC football games this season and half the time before the game I was telling myself "oh god damn don't even look" because I knew what it would do to me to see all that sweet sweet arse running around campus.

Gambling in general for me. I had the “Aha” moment in my early 20s at a blackjack table where a blew a few hundred $. I realized quickly how addictive needing to “win back” my losses was to me so I made the personal decision to not do it again.

Some.
I tend to like to challenge the odds though. I have a fatal tendency to spend time on the dark side.

I was the opposite. I display addict behavior with every mood alternating substance I’ve ever tried but I could always control my gambling.!!I gambled on sports for 20 years and only really over imbibed one weekend. I had to borrow money to pay the bookie. I never fell in that position again.

I knew I’d love heroin if I ever tried it, so I avoided it.

It’s going to be a problem in sports .
They suck you in with freebies and hope to get you hooked or at least on the hook so that you need to keep betting to get your money back.
But they have the gambling help line to save you….. hehe

Yep, I never got into playing video games because I knew I would waste entirely too much time on them.

I’ve downloaded various games on phone and realized it’s best to remove them.
Not as bad as gambling, but just a waste of time that could be more productive

One of my cousins went to one of the casinos on the Gulf Coast and sat near the Blackjack table to get an idea about the game as he'd never played it in a casino before.
After about an hour of watching he decided to join the table. I went to the poker tables and didn't see him until the next day.
The next day when I saw him and asked how he made out and his reply was classic. He said, "Those free drinks only cost me $900 last night". He swore off gambling and to my knowledge, never did it again.

I once worked with a guy who was a degenerate gambler and his thing was football=====college, pros, didn't matter. If there was a game he liked, he bet it.
I saw the guy win so much money one weekend he went out and paid cash for a nice boat, motor and trailer---at the time around $20K. A few weeks later he had to turn it over to the bookie to clear his losses---and it wasn't to clear $20K in losses.
The guy finally got so bad he lost his house, his wife left him and he just spiraled out of control.
Sad really that something like that can have such a negative effect on some people.
Chasin losses is nothing short of throwing good money after bad. That's how plenty of people get in over their heads big time.

Casinos are built on this premise IMO.

I've known a lot of bookies in my day with most of them working out of local bars taking their bets in back rooms. Video poker put an end to that.
Most of them drove nice, new cars, wore about 1/2 lb. of gold between chains and rings and never worked a real 9-5 job.
They loved the guy who lost on Saturday and Sunday and doubled down on the MNF game to try to come out ahead.

“ invest in timber”
Timber hasn’t been a good investment in a long time.IP and Boise Cascade sold their timberland holdings for that reason.
I have 100 acres of pine timber I had planted that is several years overdue for a 2’nd thinning and haven’t been able to get anyone interested. Finally got a contract few weeks ago but prices are not very good.
I had 25 acres cut in 1986 and got much better prices then.
Lumber might be sky high but the timber owners aren’t making it.
I thought I was going to get timber money in retirement but it hasn’t worked out.
I do have land for hunting so it was worth it that way.
I’ve done exponentially better in the stock market.I’m not aggressive buy and sell guy..It’s been buy and hold blue chip stocks, dividend payers, mutual funds and etf’s.
