I didn't even see this little nugget. They did, it's called MD or physician.

I'm talking about some bullshite PHD or some other doctorate. I think only a medical doctor should have that title. They need to come up with something to differentiate physicians from everyone else. I don't agree with you, but as a Ph.D, you shouldn't throw a shite fit when someone doesn't call you doctor. Case in point: My stepdad is an ER doc, and was treating a patient. He went into the patient's room and said "Hello, Mr. So and So. I have your bloodwork, and...." The patient stops my stepdad in mid-sentence, and says "It's Dr. So and So." My stepdad then proceeds to tell the patient everything using the strictest medical terms. The patient then said, "Well, I'm a Ph.D." Idiot.

My dad has a PHD in mechanical eng. He could baffle the shite out of a MD Dr. with some of his engineering speak. My dad doesn't care if you call him Dr. or not. He never told me to call him Dr. Dad

Just out of curiosity, why do you worship medical doctors? Why would no one else in any other field of study be worthy of being called a doctor? I think that's pretty stupid.

A doctorate holder is a real doctor, just not a physician. While I think it's a little pretentious, they earned that right.

This.

They're all doctors just the same. Just different types.

I was gonna make the joke about JDs being called doctors until I read your other post about actual holders of of JD demanding to be called "doctor".

Surely you kicked him in the dick, right?

PhD's have earned the right to be called doctor as much as MD's have.

The hilarious part to me about the whole "you aren't a real doctor, you just have a PhD" spiel is that medical professionals back in the start of modern medicine adopted the title because they felt they were worthy of the respect and prestige that those in academia recieved.

And now those in academia are the ones being mocked for using the honorific.

Hey, OP, why don't you look up what the word doctor means in Latin.

Rouge, when you call him "Doctor/Doctor BIL's name" does it sound like you stutter?

There are a bunch of professors in my son's lab who are MDs/Ph.D.s My hat is off to those folks with dual doctorates. I never would have had the patience (or brains) to get another advanced degree.
