About 35 years ago I was living under Nashville and got diagnosed with a type of lymphoma that had a 20% survival rate. After going thru several months of chemo and radiation I ended up taking an emergency ambulance ride from my house to the hospital. My intestines were leaking into my body cavity. I lost consciousness on the ride. After the fact, my wife informed me I had flatlined for 27 seconds. Don’t remember any lights or bells or whistles or overbearing heat

Yeah, I almost died, but I didn't know I was almost dead, I was OUT. Some docs didn't think I was going to live.

I flipped a 76 pinto and it did not explode. But it went near the bayou and a stump stopped me from going in. Also ran into a tanker truck but got lucky and hit its back fender. Plus the 19 surgeries I’ve had..and being on my trailer when the tree came through it during Ida and landed within two feet of me…

On a motorcycle on a rural 2 lane highway. I slowed to take a right that was more of a fork and up a hill. I was taking my time and just happened to look in my right side mirror and saw the grill of a dump truck. Goosed it, peeled off, heard the screech of brakes and thought immediately that I escaped death right then. Ride home with my head on a turret!

Yes one of them…, In the mid 80s …was when I was 7. I was outside playing in my Grandmothers front yard. (Dead End Street)

This white van pulls up ( yes it’s true) and this guy gets out and tells me:

“My daughter goes to school around here and I can’t find it to pick her up. Will you go with me and show me what school you go to? “

Like a dumb arse, I didn’t think anything of it, I was like sure let me go ask my grandmother if I can go and off I run into the house.

I go in and ask my grandmother, my grandfather over hears what I’m saying and off he goes to confront the guy.

By that time the guy is long gone.

Cops called and all thst kinda stuff… so I could had been killed or raped which is about the same .

Multiple times:

1. Home invasion robbery. Was told with gun pressed to the back of my head while down on all fours with my eyes closed to count down backwards from five and he was going to kill me. When I got to one he kicked me in the stomach knocking the wind out of me, then ran out the front door as I was doubled over.
2. Two motorcycle wrecks. One hit fine gravel going around a curve on a highway and it was like hitting ice, bike just dropped and almost got run over by cars behind me. Another an old lady in a boat of a vehicle obliviously merged right into me on a highway and pushed me into a loose gravel median on side of road at 40ish miles an hour.
3. Multiple other times honestly, but not putting it all out there.
4. If we're talking on a long term scale, I got married 25 years ago. Jury is still out whether I'll survive that one.

When I was a Junior at LSU, I traveled with some friends to Colorado for a week where we met more friends that lived there. On one day we went Whitewater rafting on some CRAZY rapids and I got tossed over the side, with a life vest and helmet. We were The River was moving fast and rough, and I started panicking under water and swam to the surface only to find that I was trapped under the boat with no way to get from under it. I knew I was gone when my buddy reached over the side and pulled me by my vest out from under the raft and several friends pulled me in the raft, with snot and water pouring out of my nose and mouth. Dude saved my life.

Like in the moment you think "this is it, this is how I die "

I almost died Sunday night. In the kitchen by myself and my fatty arse was eating a slice of hangover cake. Got stuck halfway down. Couldn't cough it up. Couldn't breathe. After a few seconds I started trying to heimlich myself on the lip of the sink.
It starts to get dark. I feel myself fading. And I think. "49, survived 18 months in Afghanistan... choked on cake."
Anyway, sink dislodged it. Still thinking about it.

I had to Heimlich my dad once and I know the panic you went through. I've personally been cut out of a vehicle by the jaws of life while potentially bleeding out and I was not as scared as the night I saw my dad choking. Glad you made it bro.

Caught in a riptide in Acapulco in 1982. Took my last breath and went under. Mexican only speaking dude on a surfboard grabbed my arm and hoisted me onto his board. Many "gracias's" were exchanged. To this day, only two Spanish words I only know are "gracias" and "cerveza".
Thank God for Angel my angel.

This big Mack dumptruck pulled up to the stop sign, and I guess didn't see us, and started to pull out into the road. I swerved over into the shoulder, fishtailed the car a little, and I pass right in front of his bumper. I was shaking the rest of the drive. If I hadn't seen him we could have ended up underneath the back end and surely would have died.

If this is a near brush with death... I drive LA1 between Port Allen and Plaquemine twice a day in rush hour traffic 4-5 days per week. Doesnt a day go by there is not a lunatic that about wipes you out.

Diagnosed with a clot behind my right knee. No big deal. It was my third in 22 years.

This time it travelled into my lungs as a ‘Massive Saddle Embolism’. 4.5 days in ICU. Could not talk. Every breath was a struggle. Did a catheter in my groin and pumped clot dissolvers into my lungs. It was a last chance procedure as the proper surgical team could not be located even though they were on call.

It reminded me a lot of running sprints at football practice. One more step had become one more breath.

I thanked the ICU nurses and doctor for saving me. They all said they didn’t save me, God did.

Was standing next to a dump truck while it was dumping a load of sand and the trailer hit a live power line.
