I’m not here to judge anyone and I know if someone was a casual-social drinker before Covid then chances are they are drinking more these days.

But, in my tinfoil wearing head, this is what they want - drink more, do more drugs, and stay subdued.

Drinking does temporarily make your troubles go away but going for a long walk and then eating a home cooked meal and drinking some hot chocolate before bed will start to get your mind in a much better place long term.

I’ve had only a few drinks on one night during Covid and I have 2 kids home from school and a wife that now rarely leaves the house and bitches all the time. If anyone could use a drink it’s me but exercise and a decent diet get me through it. Oh, and a good book doesn’t hurt before bed.

I definitely drank a lot more during the spring due to stress. I still went in to work every day, but I was always nervous if today would be the last day as cashflow dwindled. Slowed up over the summer as business picked back up. I started brewing 2-3% abv beers, which are next to impossible to catch a decent buzz.

no.
I don't drink much as it is. I just always seem to go from normal to headache right after drinking starts.

Actually it's less for me due to little social interaction and no football parties.

Sounds like it has affected your personal life if you are feeling disgusted with yourself. I’ve been there, it’s a shitty feeling. And despite that, like yourself and millions of others, I couldn’t stop drinking. I’m 10 months sober now and things are much better. Aa is effective if you follow the program, bunch of good and helpful people that want to help others get and stay sober. Good luck!

Retired right before covid and was drinking too much scotch daily . Had to slow down , back down to minimum consumption two days a week . Come from a long line of alcoholics . Always said when I retired I would go back to smoking pot , too old for that ...

I did start drinking more but I have not slowed down.

But the alcoholism issue "spiking" during this thing is real. I personally have an acquaintance that lost his job with the state (another state not Louisiana) and was re-assigned to a job by that state that he loathed and was doing it from home. Unsupervised he began to drink during the day and it became an issue to the point that that he had to be hospitalized and go into de-tox.

I can't imagine that's an isolated case. I can imagine there are many stories just like this.

I mean when the guys I work with are unsupervised for an hour it gets out of hand. What these folks

I stick to a regimen of only drinking on Friday and Saturday and have maintained that throughout Covid-19, but it hasn't been easy. I used to drink too much when I was younger and finally wised up.

Louisiana lives xonsist of work and drinking for the most part. Many people just have no clue what to do with themselves without a drink on their hand

I drink as much as I always have. 4-6 beers on weekdays and 8-16 on the weekends. It's higher when there are good football games on.

It comes and goes in cycles. I was mostly just a social drinker before covid, and covid has cut down on my social activities.
