These have been rampant on social media lately, you've probably seen them if you're friends with small town Louisiana women who didn't leave their hometowns.

Stories usually go like this: Mom is in Wal-Mart with young Kaisley, Jaxston, and Preyleigh, some foreigner or black dude is following them around and signals to his partner that it's time to move in. Brave mom screams at the abductor, runs to the store manager who tells them they can't remove the two guys, they of course check out, and they end asking everyone to be aware of their surroundings because child abductions / sex trafficking is happening everywhere, etc. At no point are the police ever mentioned in these scenarios.

Here's a blog post that goes into more depth about it-
quote:

In fact, these abduction reports are so common and so similar, you could practically make a fill-in-the-blanks Mad Libs-style form for creating them. White vans... teams of alleged abductors (usually persons of color or "foreign")... and the incidents are seldom, if ever reported to local police. Generally, when confronted, the original posters usually follow a pattern of deleting their posts - and sometimes, after being shown store security footage, these individuals will find themselves charged (and even convicted) of crimes themselves. This wastes valuable police resources and creates an undue sense of fear among the public. But the biggest problem with these false reports is that it helps create a "boy who cried wolf!" scenario. When a mom cries wolf so many times and it's not real, what will happen when someone really is being abducted? And yes, people have been abducted from Walmart stores in the past (along with being beaten, shot, stabbed and even killed), but contrary to what social media might have you think, you and your loved ones will probably be just fine. While we should always be cautious and mindful of the environment around us, there is absolutely no reason to live - or shop - in fear.

My hometown police department asked the public to stop sharing these on social media. I'm guessing cops and store managers are sick of them.

These types love attention. This is just one more way of generating it.

I’m convinced that the Sulphur, LA WalMart (which isn’t terrible considering it’s a WalMart) is the Mecca of child abductors. I am now convinced this is where they hold their monthly meetings and once adjourned, they go on the prowl the same night looking for children to take.

Eye contact = child abductor = never thought it would happen to me! = sex trafficking is REAL and it is here!!!

I’m going to sulphur for the weekend. I’ll be avoiding the Wal mart at all cost.

Nah. It’s not a real thing. Made up as much as these child abduction cases

I think we’d be hard pressed to find a public place with more security cameras than your average Walmart. I’m not saying we shouldn’t stay aware of our surroundings, but it would be a dumb arse place to regularly attempt abductions, with so many less secure public options available.

Wife has said this before. It's not Walmart or anywhere else, but a nearby Sam's club. I can see her concerns.

Put kid in car, return cart, and someone could easily snatch a young kid and or both.

Better to raise awareness to people who aren't familiar. If it's for attention, then yeah, it wrong.

Why not return the cart with kids, walk/carry kids back to the car, and leave without incident?

It's definitely true, 'cause my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw it happen with her own eyes.

I’ve seen two or three in the last few days.

One’s kid’s name literally was Kaysen. I laughed out loud when reading it.
