Opened your eyes?
Moved from Baton Rouge to a city of 4.5 million made me realize I do not like the city life.

I moved from BR to NYC for about a year after college. It was fun for a few months, but I could never live in a place that big long term. I lived in a Nola for a brief time. Otherwise, been in the BR metro most of my life.

lol no just raised my hand when a new job or promotion was available. Wasn’t married and free to move and travel. Pack 2 weeks of clothes and my golf clubs back…let the movers do the rest

Left my hometown at 18 and went to LSU 180 miles away. My parents moved away from my hometown at the same time so other than visiting, I never lived there again. Went out to Southern Cali for a couple of years when I graduated LSU then moved to Dallas which is a 5 hour drive to my hometown. My grandparents have all passed so I haven't been back to my hometown in 25 years.

Moving to BR, which was 9.5 hours away, opened up my eyes to how bad culcha is.

I can’t imagine how awful sticking around home would have been.

I stuck around home, and it’s been great! I’ve traveled a lot, but I’ve never lived anywhere else.

I’ve lived outside NOLA area half my life now. Been in FL or TX as a full time resident post-LSU.

It is hasn’t really changed my perspective. It is still the South. The only real difference is both states have real leadership and the corruption is way less compared to LA.

I was born in BR and grew up there. Went to LSU, graduated, got married and moved to Dallas area (2 years), south Florida area (5 years), Carmel, CA (talk about expensive but beautiful-2 years), Redlands, CA (great small town near Riverside-San bernardino-37 years). Raised 3 sons there (the oldest was disabled and passed in 2011). The other 2 sons are both married and pilots in the AF, so they move about ever 3 years. Our best friends in California up and moved to Texas, so we moved back home in 2021 to be close to family in the BR/DS area. My problem was if I wanted to get a good paying job (hence the moving so often-chasing money). God had a plan for me and I feel blessed (the boys growing up in southern California it was fantastic-mountains, beach, desert). And don't worry about them and CA schools, they are both more politically conservative than me! I'm encouraging my sons and their wives to decide where there want to live (hopefully in the same town) and once the have kids we'll probably move to be close to those grandbabies!

I’ve lived in six states plus DC and have the back problems to prove it from moving all my shite so often. What moving around does is proves to yourself what you value in life. By that I mean, I was born and raised in Louisiana and reluctantly left for school and work. When the opportunity finally came to return, I jumped at the chance. Left behind an area that was objectively “better” on paper because it didn’t do anything for me. Everything was big and perfect and shiny, and dull as ditch water at the same time. I missed everything about LA except the potholes and the politics
