They should probably add starting a small business and one of them going back to school while they're at it.

By you saying you rent, I take that as an apartment. Find a nice house to rent.

If you do the below steps. It’ll be a breeze.
As will anything else:

One decision at a time.
Watch funny movies.
Listen to 92.7 in the car.
Put down the iPhone for a night a week.
Go to church on Sunday
Pray each morning.

Honestly have a very small wedding or elope and just have a party after. No bigger waste of money than paying for your own wedding.

How much are you all planning to spend on the wedding and house?

Your Grandpa Allays was right and you are so dumb that you don't realize it is precisely both HERE and THERE.

tl/dr:

Wait a minute. You think HE would get the house. That’s cute.

We are currently planning a wedding AND in the home buying process all at once.

This is fairly common and not at all that difficult.

We got engaged, bought a house, fiancée (now wife) broke her leg so I had to drive her around to appointments and work for 8 months while she was in a full length cast,I had an appendectomy, got a job offer out of state, sold house #1, we lived in corporate housing for 2 months (fiancée still couldn’t drive), bought house #2 then got married all in 11 months.

TL;DR....you’ll survive and have nothing to complain about baw.

If he purchases it before the marriage and his name is the one on the mortgage then yes, I do.

Aww so sorry. I am grandmother of a bride to be and retired, but was lucky to pick up a computer job i can do from home to help pay for the wedding. Her wedding will probably be the only one I will see in my lifetime. So excited!!!

Not so much a rookie mistake. I would call this, "biting off more than you can chew". Postpone the wedding until the house stuff is settled. You already live together, so there's no rush for a piece of paper tying you together for life. Just don't get her pregnant.

Everyone told me that taking on both of those feats at once would be too stressful, and I just blew them off.

I did it recently.
Make a list of things to do.
Leave "freak out" off of list.
Do all things on list.
Realize freaking out solves nothing and does not make you feel better.

This.

You're 28, not a teenager. Man up and get shite done.

And chalk me up for eloping.

If your bride is reasonable you should be able to marry at the courthouse. Do a little event after with friends and family.

You save money and still get wedding gifts
