I had no idea so many people got this upset about a simple saying.

I am not upset, I said annoying, like a mosquito buzzing. It is more and more prevalent.

I thought the OT was the place for petty bullshite.

I dont really get upset over someone telling me that, but it's kind of awkward to have someone say that to me because you know the whole time that they expect a similar response back.

Agree.

I don't say it, honestly. It does seem to bother people more than I would've thought.

Hell, people say dumber stuff in business meetings all the time.

You think?

I was thinking more like when people say "God bless you" after a sneeze.
I didn't think they were looking for that response back.

"it is what it is" came out of one of my partners mouth the other day. I thought the customer was going to shove a pen through his eye.

I had this big fat black lady at the grocery store tell me to have a blessed day one time and I thought she said I was dressed gay so I hit her in the face with a cantaloupe. People all gathered round her big sprawled out rotund arse saying like WFT happened sweetie are you ok and I was like sweetie? Don't you mean sweaty? Look her big fat Nell Carter arse. And they were like what did you do to her you monster. And I was like shite I didn't do anything I guess she got a case of melonoma. And they all started getting all up in arms and shite so I snatched up my groceries and left.

Justifiable, IMO.

"Have a blessed day" is a popular pleasantry in DC. Not sure I ever heard it in Louisiana. Doesn't offend me in the slightest, but still strange for me to hear.

Interesting, I would have figured it more popular in the deep south

It does annoy me when people tell me to have a blessed day. It's usually someone really trashy saying it to me.

Heard a woman the other day take it up a notch and respond with,

"I'm blessed and highly favored."

I wanted to say, "No, you are not."

I'm not an atheist, but this stuff bugs me, too.

pretty sure that's from a scripture.

People are just trying to show that their faith. It's pretty benign really, huh?

Gives you the opportunity to respond with your faith high five, or just smile and move on...

We're blessed to have lives good enough to where this shite is even said, much less noticed.

I can't believe people in this day and age think they are "blessed". Unfortunately people think because they are fortunate and lucky to have been born in this country that they in general ignore the fact that the vast majority of people on this planet suffer daily. Saying you are blessed is insulting.

It may be insulting, but based on your statement, is it not true?
