re: Has Wal-Mart delivery impacted your life?

Walmark delivery is great. Order the weeks groceries from bed and they are at the door the next morning.
A few mess ups but not bad. Even ordered a 4 burner bbq grill in the morning and was putting together that afternoon.
It’s a nice complement to Costco and Amazon Prime.

Saves me money. I order only what I intend and no extras bc of walking around. I’ll have non-perishables delivered and then go to local for meat, etc.

For two years I thought it was great; got heavy or bulky items delivered the same day or next without having to go there and struggle with them myself. I didn't order more stuff than usual though; so it didn't impact the budget. During the last three months I had three orders with missing items that I had to call and have delivered or get my money back. That was it for me; I didn't renew Walmart+, and I get my husband or son to get the heavy things like they used to.

Walmart pays them. They know how the selection works. You have to select the "shipping" option and, when you do, it doesn't ask for a tip. If it did, I would tip, but shipping is different and most things that have the shipping option available may arrive the next day. Whatever is in the store, usually does. Shipping is free.

Why don't yall just quickly google before saying shite like this?
The first time I remember Prime being mentioned in the zeitgeist was Parks and Rec around 2013.
"Stink bomb? Are you joking? Oh, my God! Where did you even get a stink bomb?
Amazon, baby, that's how. You are looking at a prime customer, everybody. Two days free shipping for this guy."

I will actually go to Walmart now for the pickup orders. Walmart used to be strictly off limits to me for 8 years, but now I will help my wife out and go to town to pick up groceries once a week.
But I live in the sticks, so no one delivers to me except package delivery. No pizza, food or grocery delivery.

I don't use it much, prefer pickup as there are too many substitutes.

I spend less and I heard others do as well. You're not walking around the store just grabbing shite you don't need.

Prime hasnt even been around a decade lol
More like two decades. It had millions and millions of subscribers 10 years ago. Just because you have not had it for a decade does not mean it hasn’t been around that long.

They usually get paid per delivery or by the batch, so it did not have much impact. Just less stuff to lug up to the front door. The no tip thing was probably frowned upon, though.

To the extent that there are Walmart proper hauling around carts with bins shopping on every aisle. id affects me. At times they are blocking my access to products.

If I want something delivered, I would never go to Walmart. I only go to Walmart because there are a few things that I cannot find anywhere else in this small town.

There’s a reason Costco doesn’t do curbside, and this is it.

I shop the old fashioned way...

Yes, the employees who pick items are always getting in my way
This seems unsustainable and inefficient as hell. At some point they need an organized warehouse instead of employees scrambling all over the stores filling bags.
Although I guess it's good that they are hiring people for this task after eliminating so many jobs with the self check. It's also a pretty healthy job with miles of walking a day...at least until they have morbidly obsese people on power scooters filling orders.

Walmart home delivery has a god send for people who live way out in the boonies, especially poor people with no ride.
What are you talking about? NO ONE delivers to the boonies except for ups, fedex and the postal service. I've never had a delivery service in my life because I live so far in the sticks we have to pipe in sunlight.

I like it. It's convenient and saves time. I use other grocery delivery services as well. With Walmart, I pay $75 a year which my credit card company refunds. I buy mostly just what I need rather than picking up things in any grocery store that I see, but don't need. I have to order a lot for my Mom's house as well, so that's another big help.
Walmart will also deliver non perishable items at no minimum purchase. Last night, I ordered a bag of cotton balls for about 2 bucks. No fee, no tip even requested and the bag arrived this morning.
Before Walmart delivery, I can't recall going to a Walmart more than a few times in 15 years or more.
Completely agree. We were only visiting Neighborhood Walmart for pet food and cases of soft drinks for years, but delivery has allowed us to do larger stock-up orders of packaged goods that we either can't find elsewhere or that are outrageous elsewhere.
Biggest thing for me is all the products nobody small carries. I do a lot of keto/low carb/low calorie substitutes (tortillas, bread/buns, dairy products, etc.), and Walmart carries them all. They also have fun novelty items. Any wacky limited edition flavor that Cheez It or Pringles or whoever is going to come out with.. is sold at Walmart.
Like you, I still get delivery from Whole Foods (love their delivery - better employees), and I go into Matherne's or Sprouts or Fresh Market in person as needed. Not strongly married to only 1 store.

The items that come "shipped/delivery" are separate from your groceries anytime I've done them. It's items that aren't at the store your groceries are coming from, so they send them via USPS or whatever. At least, if we are talking about the same thing here.

I’m a huge fan of the least amount of hands touching anything I purchase.
