My kids are technically on spring break this week. If I remember right, Louisiana schools are closed but only until April 13.

Was there any other announcements about what happens after that?

A good bet would be that the school year is done until Aigust

I really don’t expect us to go back this year. It’s sad for seniors if they end up getting no graduation ceremony and no prom.

Hopefully 08 will come in, he seems to be the guy who knows it all when it comes to when schools will open up.

What do you think about Summer workouts for football? Cheer and dance camps? I might save a ton of money if my girls don't have to go to camp.

I would say a return to school is 50/50 at this point. If we are down to a few cases by the end of April, I think they open for a few weeks so schools can close out the year and parents can go back to work.

Your kids will most likely not go back to school this year.

I'd be preparing more for some form of extended school year next year to catch up to what was missed this year or a shift to year round school. This is the event that may finally trigger it if the teacher's unions can't fend off having to work a full year.

Maybe. Let's be clear, there won't be much of any learning going on for those 3 weeks (May 4 start date, most schools end May 21/22 before Memorial Day weekend).

And I imagine the kids will be a holy terror for the teachers.

But... I am sure the kids would like to see their friends, and it would allow some semblance of graduation ceremonies to occur.

My kids really want their awards they've earned.

There’s a shite ton of logistical and organizational issues that would have to be worked out to make this happen.

Arkansas has 16 deaths in the state, little over 800 total cases.

Governor announced no more in class instruction for the rest of the school year today.

So yeah I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say LA ain't going back to school.

Not going to happen. The Flood and Katrina prove that. The distance learning and packets kids are doing now will count as completing the curriculum for this year.

Michigan kids go to school til around June 20th, and they’ve already called the school year. I doubt Louisiana is going back.

Wait, y’all haven’t cancelled/went online for the year yet? I thought pretty much every state did that already.
