I was at a beach once in Thailand and they had a ring set up for professional Muay Thai fights. They had some type of deal where regular joes could get in the ring and fight against the Thai fighters. I saw a few drunk European tourists give it a try thinking they could handle themselves against the little Thai dudes who were like 5'5 and 135 lbs. It didn't go well and the tourists were fresh meat for those little Thai dudes who were tougher than shoe leather. Saw some serious arse whoppings.

Did they get paid for getting the shite kicked out of them? I would jump at the opportunity

Maybe start with your local jiu jitsu gym before you get your face smashed in by someone you can’t get off of you. Trial classes are free. Go train with a purple/brown/black belt that weighs around the same amount as you then imagine that plus getting punched harder than you’ve ever been punched until you’re unconscious. Each gym has a few chode-like 350 pound baws

One of my buddies in Tulsa was the light heavyweight world champion kickboxer for a short time. He had to watch the replay to see how he lost to knockout in a bout in Tokyo defending the belt. At 35 you're too old for the game.

Do you lift, BJJ and have decent cardio?
Posted on 9/3/25 at 1:18 pm to LSU Coyote
I lift and I do cardio about once or twice per year. Figured I would just try to Tank my way through any fight

Fighting is one of those things everyone thinks they can do until they get matched up against someone infinitely more skilled and in peak cardio shape. Most average joes couldn't make it one 5 minute round before falling out exhausted.
An experienced fighter would let you wear yourself down and then knock you out cold after your fatigue sets in.

What are the odds I could take a guy to the ground in first 60 seconds? They have to be pretty good
Posted on 9/3/25 at 1:34 pm to StickyFingers
I'd say unless you catch him sleeping, given your in/around the same weight class, very very low. I dont even do MMA, just BJJ. I'd let you get a few jabs/haymakers out of the way and single leg you to the groundand just sit on you. You'd be gassed out before the round ended.
