Nothing you're saying is correct. Mormons make up 60% of Utah, which leaves a sizeable population that isn't LDS.
Utah is much different scenery than Idaho.

Not so. I have two physician colleagues who worked there that later moved due to this. If the LDS folks have a choice between two specialists and one is LDS and the other is not guess who they are going to go to? These two physicians later moved to comparable markets and killed it. If your job doesn't require choices from them you will be ok but if they have a choice and you aren't in their group you are SOL.

And? Most cities are going to have some major religion or culture, them's the breaks. There's nothing wrong with that being Mormon or Protestant or Catholic, etc.
Do they make some decisions and do some things that are driven by their religion? Sure. Most people who are religious do. But from what I hear, post-Olympic SLC is a completely different place. And SLC itself is less than 50% LDS now. And that's dropping yearly.
The tech boom has been huge and they expect growth to continue and most of that being non-LDS.

Spent 18 months there on an assignment, wrapped it up this past October. Nice place, nice people. It is very near some beautiful scenery, but the valley itself looks like Afghanistan. It really depends on what you like to do. Drinking isn't big there, forget about tailgating.
If boating/fishing/hunting is your thing, not the place for you. It never rains in the summer but snows constantly in winter (lake effect) but isn't especially cold, winds off the lake keeping valley temps reasonable.
If you like hiking, climbing or mountain biking, it's your spot. Skiing is great, the three resorts at Park City have been combined, so you can go the whole season without repeating many trails. I did that last winter. The food isn't great, funeral potatoes is their favorite dish. LDS people (don't call them Mormon, the church is Mormon, the people are LDS) run the show completely and while they'll be exceedingly nice and helpful, you're not ever getting inside the power circles.

I eliminated Panama City earlier so it's down to Salt Lake City, Houston, Fort Myers and Jacksonville.
Probably won't eliminate any more until I negotiate salary and terms

SLC is a nice place but I can't handle all that cold. The highs right now are around freezing.

Didn't know we had some many people on the board living out here.
Been here for 5 years. Don't think we will ever go back to Louisiana.
Plenty to do year round. Clean city. Nice people. Good food if you know what to expect (don't get pissed that you can't get good seafood... the state is land locked)

The scenery is beautiful and housing is not bad at all.
However, If you do have kids who are not lds, do not move them there. I lived there for three years as a catholic kid and it was terrible. Trust me, the posters who are saying that not being Mormon is tough, are right.
