Salt Lake city never was a front runner , just kind of hung around, but has made a sudden surge to the top of the list

Houston made it this far simply because I'm from Texas and that's where all my family is
However if I were to live in Texas I'd rather live in DFW which isn't an option

Do you "love" to Ski or do you love to go on Ski vacations? Big difference because that's about all there is to do for outdoor recreation for half the year.
I have friends there and visit once or twice a year. That's enough for me

Just be sure that your job does not require any networking or referrals...If you aren't LDS and they have a choice it won't be you.

Eh, I was hiking the last weekend of October, and started hiking last year the first weekend of March. And that was around SLC. You can always head South a few hours in October and March to camp and hike in certain areas. Great places to bike or hike are everywhere and even hitting Moab up in November before any snow hits is possible.
There's also a big snowshoe and CC skiing community and year round sporting. I play soccer every week. So it isn't JUST skiing.

It's something I enjoy doing and wish I could do more. It's too expensive and time consuming, but I love to do it, I just don't do it enough to get to the point where I can get better at it. Seems like each time I go skiing I spend the first half of the day just getting the hang of it all again. At the end of the day I am doing well but day's over, and by the next time I go skiing I start all over since I only go about once or twice a year.
If I lived in Salt Lake city I'd buy my own skis and boots and a season pass lift ticket and actually make some progress.

I would love to move to Utah but yeah it's like people don't know much about Fort Myers. I think it's gorgeous.

Can confirm. Never had an issue with the LDS since I've been here. Just have to plan my drinking out a couple of days.
And to add on to the ski comment by OP, this is my first season. Got a season pass and skis and I've been 10 times. You get good really fast. The resorts are so close that if I get off work early I can still get three hours in.

My parents grew up in Utah, roughly 30 minutes from Salt lake.
Thankfully they didnt want me to go through the same depressing experience that they had, and they got me the frick out of there when I was a baby.
My friend and I went to visit my grandpa there when I was about 17 years old. It was the worst 2 weeks of my life and had me genuinely contemplating suicide.
Mormons suck
Utah sucks
Skiing is fun tho

Agreed. I will say that this board tends to shite on Florida a lot. Fort Myers is gorgeous and I wouldn't complain if I had to move there.
